So what if a woman chooses to have an abortion, it's her body, she should be able to do what she wants with it. Thought I do think she should go to counciling before she decides to go through with it to see if she really wants to go that way.

So, I've been having trouble finding specific verses of the bible that shows god dosen't condone abortion, a little help? And please, 'thou shalt not kill', dosent' count.

I just don't see why it's such a 'touchy' topic.

So the baby doesn't have a right to its own body..only the woman? Does it count if the baby is female?

Why doesn't thou shalt not kill count? The baby IS being killed..that is what abortion does...ends a life.

It's pretty obvious it's a "touchy" subject, when one just looks at the responses it ellicits from both sides. It's a very passionate issue that is bound to push people's buttons.
I wouldn't consider a pro-choice argument worded as "So what?" very helpful to the cause.

I can have title as whatever I choose, I don't really care about changing minds about abortion. I know people are so sure that they are right and I am wrong that I gave up trying to disprove them. That's just my opinion and shouldn't be reflected on pro-choice as a whole.

ETA: I do not believe legally a fetus is the same as a citizen. Morally, it's an entirely different topic.

So the baby comes magically alive somehow when its born? Are you for real?

Did you know when a pregnant woman goes in for a check up they listen to the babies heart beat to see if its ok. To make sure the baby isn't in distress by having a higher heart beat. The very fact a human heart is beating tells us what? That the baby is alive. If the doctor hears no heart beat...the doctor then tells the mother the baby has died.

See the difference...heart beat..alive...no heart beat..dead.

fallenphantomangel..it appears to me you came here solely to make people angry and to start a fight...what are you really so angry about? You won't last long on this board doing this sort of thing I image...

If you want to have a serious discussion about this..then by all means, do so...but this 'so what' and 'babies aren't alive until they breath'...come on..that is provoking and not even realistic at all.

Amen!!!!! I am adopted, and I am eternally grateful that my birth mother thought that highly of my life inside of her. I am very alive now~~~~have been for quite some time ~~~~ and I enjoy my life. So what's the matter with that one commandment???? Um, Thou shalt not kill. Like she said, it's true!

This verse does not specifically state anything about abortion, and it is what God spoke to the prophet Jeremiah. It can be extrapolated that God surely must know everyone even before they were born as well. Since He knows us before we were born, then it seems like it would not be a good idea to destroy someone that God knows.

Jeremiah 1:4-5
Then the word of the Lord came to me saying,
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations."

There are theories that a baby is first alive once the heart beats, and another once the blood starts flowing.

My daughter actually started sucking her thumb in the womb, and that was two months before she was born. (I saw this on the ultrasound).
