I know denomination are just a title; but I was wondering, if you are Anabaptist which demonination are you? Myself, I consider to be a mixture of Mennonite/Southern Baptist.

Howdy MennoII~when I first joined CF I was "Menno" (that was a few years ago lol). I was discipled by menno folks after my conversion (25 years ago) and was mennonite for a number of years but got caught up into Calvinism for about a decade until I saw the error there. Currently I split my time between Southern Baptist and Eastern Orthodox.

Yes, that too, is why I chose my Username also. But that is an interesting mix Southern Baptist and Eastern Orthodox. Although living near a big city, I know we have some Russian Orthodox who dress nearly the same as many Anabaptist which I find interesting. But other than that, can't say I know a whole lot, what they teach.

Now that is a mix, that doesn't confuse me, as much. I really admire any group(s) that are inspired to let the Holy Spirit lead them.

An interesting read on an anabaptist view of Orthodoxy would "The Russian's Secret" by Peter Hoover (same author of "Secret of the Strength"). Both IIRC are available free to read online and Scroll Publishing carries both titles (you know Scroll right?).

While the Russian's Secret isn't very friendly toward the Orthodox Church towards the end there are many positive reference to many Orthodox saints--St Ignatius (Brianchaninov), a Russian bishop is one that immediately comes to mind--when I reread it not long ago I was suddenly recognizing names after my learning about the Ancient Church.
What sort of menno sect are you with? MCUSA? One of the Conservative branches?

Right now not, with any Anabaptist Group, but have been to several Beachy Amish Mennonite Churches and really enjoyed myself. Before I moved from Kansas I attended a Brethren in Christ Church (which although Brethren is also considered Mennonite by many).

I was brought up in a Methodist church but left the church a few years ago due to several reasons. I am currently reclaiming my faith and am not sure where that will take me.

Yup BiC is thick around here; Messiah College is just up the road. I was born and lived the first 6 years of my life in SE KS (El Dorado/Wichita) and my folks live in Abilene & Dad was born in Salina. I've been back a few times; central KS is bleak--brutal summers, cruel winters, uninvited tornadoes

I'm new here as of today so hello first of all! This thread caught my eye first because I have no idea what I am. I used to jokingly say that I was a "Baptipentacostonite" :Baptist, Pentacostal, Mennonite... but here lately I've taken interest in Messianic Judaism. I think I feel so homeless because I don't have a spiritual home in my area. I have a church I attend occassionally and I do value the teaching there... it's Baptist... but I don't feel like there are any like-minded believers there. I did have the chance to attend with an Old Order Mennonite Community for several months while in college and that was the most at home I have ever felt. I'm not plain by any means... but that's because I'm too chicken... not from a lack of conviction.... I'll stop rambling now

I'm new here as of today so hello first of all!
I have been to a few Mennonite churches myself, one was transitional (that is between Old Order and what we would call modern). It was the Mennonite Church of God, I think it was around Durham KS. Like you I feel at home with them. I also have had the priviledge of attending a Messianic Jewish Service, their are such a blessing we as Christians lose so much by not understanding our Jewish Heritage.

Yea, I attended the Abilene Brethren in Christ Church (in Abilene KS), a little over 8 year ago. I really loved that Church the people really strived to serve the Lord. I never remember seeing a tornado in all the years I live in Kansas, but did sleep though one. Cruel Winters :o, you must be from the South, because where I live now makes Kansas winters look warm. Not uncommon up here in Minnesota to go two or three weeks with the high every day being 20 below zero. Wait isn't Messiah College in Pennsylvania or Ohio? Don't you get worse winters, than Kansas?
