  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Interesting that you only mention American soldiers, not pointing to all the thousands of innocent men womand and children in Iraq. But i guess one american is worth more then one Iraqi?

And protect your Freedome?
What illusion are you living in?
The same Freedome they protected when going into Vietnamn i guess?

United States has not faced a real war since the civil war, the americans do not know what a real war is, they only know about how to attack other nations, and start war on there land. Taking what is not theirs.

Your country started the Iraqi war, you are to blame for the war, as the american people did nothing to stop it, as you are cowards, weak people whom are afraid of saying no, i am ashamed of coming from Canada, as it borders your country of ignorance, people like you make the world unsafe.

Indeed it is tragic that so many soldiers are dying. Whats even more tragic is that this war was brought unto America by itself. There was no need to attack as they were no immediate threat and did not posses WMDs.
The truth is that the US army aren't helping themselves, especially in the 'Green Sector' (or whatever its called) in Baghdad where only Americans are allowed in. This splits them apart from the normal Iraqi. While they are eating Burger Kings, some Iraqis are finding it hard to survive. Why dont the US not take a look at the British troops in Basra and see the way that they are mingling with the population.
When asked by one reporter what the Iraqi food tasted like he said, 'Erm, the kebabs here are nice.' What a great way to get to know the people you are liberating.

Anyway, I still pray for the troops not for what they are doing as I belive its wrong, but for the suffering they have to cope with as is the same for the civilians.

Well, that's an awful lot of ignorance to post in only three paragraphs. While I have nothing against Candians in general, I find it ironic that you bad mouth us while sitting there all snug and safe because no one can touch you because of your big brother to the south. Not having to worry about external threats and never having to actually fight, I guess it's OK for you to sit up there and arogantly pass judgement on Americans.

So tell me, what "real" war has Canada ever had to fight? Not just shipping off your soldiers to aid your former imperial masters or renting them out to the UN?

Every death is a true sorrow. But to put it into perspective, there are 40,000 highway deaths in the US each year. There are about 400 murders in D.C. each year. It seems that our soldiers may be safer in Iraq than on the highway or the D.C. intercity. For what has been accomplished in Iraq, the US casuality rate has been quite low. However, I offer my highest honor to those who have given their all in this battle against evil.

Well put, Canadians are very smug. They can afford to be 'cause they can always hide behind us. As far as the Iraqi people go, they bear the blame of Saddam as well, they could of gotten rid of him.

That's too high of a horse for me to even try to get up on... Enjoy your ride through the clouds when ever you get close enough to see the ground I would look for your parachute cord.

You two make me freaking sick... T mean for real... was all of that truely necessary?

Tom only asked for prayer of american soldiers, not be blasted by offensive remarks, grow up.
The terrible thing is, them dieing for a cause unjust, that should make you sick. You should be praying that democracy may be restored in the US.

There is something very wrong in your country right now.

The mix of self-justification for God and patriottism si very dangerous and wrong.

American soldiers are some of the greatest human beings on earth... I have many friends that are in the middle east right now... They do not die unjustly they are honorable men... God bless everyone of them.. They are willing to put their lives on the line so my wife and I can sit at home and enjoy our time together and I am indebted to them.

the mix of self-justication is very true, but they are not dieing needlessly. I am a soldier myself and I KNOW they are not dieing for an unjust cause despite what the media plays.

No, they are not die needlessly. Just dying to bring more economic power and strategic importance to the US, oh and oil...

yeah well to put it in perspective, only about 3000 people died in the WTC attacks. I mean--that's so few compared to the number of highway deaths in the US. Does it justify invading two other countries and killing thousands of their civilians?

What battle against evil? The only battle I see is against occupation.

your post displays how little you know of the soldiers' cause.

They are defending the iraqis.

Defending the Iraqis? Defending the Iraqis from what? Maybe you mean liberating?
'Liberating' the Iraqis would mean that they got rid of Saddam, then left Iraq up to itself, while using Iraqi businesses to re-construct many of the industries (obviously there are some that need help from the US). But no the US are not doing that. All the oil contracts for example have gone to US companies (the ones that helped Bush become elected).
Please read post #4 for some criticisms.
