• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

So many of my dear brothers and sisters in Christ are hurting here and I'm so ill-equipped to help you. As I read some of your stories I long to give you a smile and an encouraging word; yet, the internet is so - impersonal - how do I convey solice and comfort as a fellow believer? How can these words bring security and peace of mind to you?

I'm a finite human being just like you. I know that my Redeemer liveth, just like you. I know that God loves me unconditionally, just like you. I struggle to find balance in my own life and also to reach out to people, just like you.

I pray that this place continues to be a refuge for all of us.
:amen:

I've thought these same things countless times before. It can be hard at times to express things in words only - heartfelt sympathy, love, caring, kindness, compassion, etc. :groupray: And we can't really help in practical ways in many cases either. But at least we can be there for the people here and reach out to them in whatever ways we can, even though they are so far away.

Amen...We can not personally reach out and hug and uplift...but I know our words can be a comfort..The written word is strong, and often touches so many....Keep on encouraging and praying...The LORD honors His word, and he remembers your labors for Him.

Hello MLynn,

I think I know the way you feel. It is very hard to show that you truly do care about this person you may never meet (or talk to again). I've often felt like somewhat of a tool when I say things to people like "don't give up" or "God loves you, just hang in there". But, strangely enough, receiving those words from someone else on CF can be the best medicine I could ever get. Even if I am rebuked, knowing that there are people all over the world who are taking a few minutes out of their day to talk to me... it's a blessing, that's the simplest way I can put it. So I try to remember how much it helps me, even if all I can say to the person is something simple. Really, just seeing that he/ she has a reply can be such a great help.
 Keep up the good work, and God bless you for caring!

David
