• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So is this how it works

A)OCD makes you doubt God exists and creates fear because you do.

B)OCD doesn't make you doubt God exists but creates fear because you do.

What about people who doubt but don't have fear is it because they don't have OCD.

Who goes to heaven or hell and how would you know if you fit into category A or B.

People on this forum say, say dear Lord thank you for dying for my sins and believe in your heart um I doubt that isn't possible.

I think many if not all people have an occasional doubt float through their mind but if one battles OCD they have the tendency to latch onto the thought and say what if, what if, what if and possibly develop an obsession which demands 100% certainty that something is or is true. Since most things in life or faith never provide 100% certainty they get anxious because they can't resolve it to their satisfaction and it becomes a vicious cycle. This is how I see the relationship between OCD AND doubts. I am one that does believe OCD Is a brain malfunction. Let me put it this way: I think OCD makes it very difficult to just let a thought go as someone who doesn't battle OCD would likely do.

I think when I was in the face of death or thought I was I got scarEd there is nothing after this. I want it sooo bad to be true there is a heaven and God if I didn't I wouldn't obsess. I want to have a purpose and paradise. I need 100 percent certainty though because I cannot just have faith(hope and belief in the unseen) it is scary for me to let go and trust with the possibility I could be wrong but on the other hand not trusting could lead me to hell but I just can't do it. I just can't trust. So now that I need this 100 percent proof of God exists and there is a athiest on one shoulder and God on the other but hE is so small.

I want to go to a therapist the only two that do exposure therapy are 100 dollars a session I can't afford that. I hate this. I want to be saved and not fear no heaven. I know people on here with the same doubts that I have and they feel saved and don't fear no afterlife
That seems crazy to me.

Why do I look on the internet, around my sisters campus etc. To see who are the athiests to see what I shold believe. I always come to the conclusion I don't want to be wrong but that is pascals wager not faith. If you doubt but hope that is pascals wager. If this isn't OCD I am going to hell!!! Kaykay I got put on new medicine last week. Christian catholic you say my issue is definitely OCD put there is no way to prove it am I hellbound if this is just doubt not caused by OCD. I don't understand the whole OCD causing you to doubt God exists thing anyway. I feel like people who had OCD about God existing never really doubted or found enough evidence. I feel I am different. We can't prove mother theresa, Bunyan, spurgeon etc had OCD and we can't prove we aren't just chosen to have faith and make it into heaven. I know three people at work that want to believe God exists but don't have enough evidence do they have OCD too where do they go when they die. I also think I want to be athiest and think this atheist guy I know is hot because he is atheist. What is going on?

I am glad you are on some type of med. Hope it helps you. It takes several weeks or longer to kick in and make a difference. And sometimes you have to try more than one to find what works for you. I just want to address one thing you keep saying about you think atheists are smarter, hotter etc. Sigh...how can I put this. Not All, but MANY atheists will HAVE you believe they are smarter, more logical, yada, yada, yada and subtly put you down for your faith. THEY act like they know more etc. Many are the proverbial "legends in their own minds" so to speak. THEY have convinced you they are smarter, more logical. Life isn't about logic or nothing would be here. Absolutely nothing. Don't believe their propaganda. There are many, many apologetic theologians who could think rings around most atheists. Dr. Greg Boyd comes to mind, Ravi Zacharias is another just to name a couple. Many. Don't be misled that the truly intelligent are always atheists. Atheists may seem "hotter" because they may represent a "bad boy mystique," someone who walks on the wild side. Do you get my drift?

Yeah I understand but I am scared because no athiest have ever tried to get me to think they are smarter I just think they are but I don't want to. I feel like I have a split personality one that wants to believe in athieism and one who doesn't. I have three friends at work that don't God exists just like I do but that don't worry about it. Why? What if I don't have OCD where am I going when I die.
