Calvinism agrees with God's word whether they like it or not.

Many others twist the scriptures to their comfort, and others change the word outright.

I noticed no one answered this. I would think that what many Calvinists hold to is the Westminster Confession of Faith.

On a serious note, though, most of us Calvinists claim to follow Christ, and believe that Calvin is correct in his doctrines. We call ourselves Calvinists because that explains our theology in a single word.

If I may add my experience with my friends the Hanover presbytery pastors who are Calvinists. They are all very much followers of Christ and absolutely serious about making sure their teaching the Bible correctly. As bsd58 stated above, it tells everyone, or almost everyone, what we believe with a single term. For me to say I am a Presbyterian is far from being specific as there are, last I heard, 32 Presbyterian denominations, some of which couldn't be further from what I believe.
