Interesting question...

I don't think anyone should ever force (in the literal sense of the world) their religion on someone else. Forced religion is only skin deep.

However, there is nothing wrong with witnessing to people and sharing Christ with them (in fact we are commanded to do so - "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations" Matt 28:19)...there's a huge difference between sharing and forcing :)

I think it's wrong :)

To what extent do you mean though? Like.. simply sharing your religion with someone to hope they become the same way, making your kids grow up to be religous, or to actually force people by telling them that they'll go to a bad place if they die, and what not?

In Egypt they start to teach us Islam in age of 7 years old according to Egyptain law regardless of our religion, we also had to memorize and examined in a very wide parts of the qoran since that age till we finished school.

After school it's almost impossible to work for a muslim, yet some small cases did but majority couldn't and one of the famest jobs ads comments say (The applicant must regard muslim praying hours when calling us)
The alegoric meaning is not to apply if you are Christian.

No christian doctors male or female allowed in gynaecology only a male or female mslim can study gynaecology!

No churches to be built or fixed unless with a superior permission of the president of Egypt.
they kidnap our dougters almost daily and every now and then kill some of us to terrorize us.
Last Christmass they attacked a Church in upper Egypt (Naga Hamady) and killed six of us at the moment of the mass end according to a parliment member call ; his name is (Hussain El-Ghoul) who is still in the parliment !
They promised us to fire him out of the parliment but they didn't.
We insist that He should be brought to a court, but they say he has immunity to trials since he's still a parliment member.

and many hundereds and thousands of laws and organized actions which try to humiliate us to force us to join Islam.

Well I believe that only it makes us more and more strong and nothing can move us away from The Holy trinity, Those satanic behaviours couldn't change the most important believe we have, the believe which is the light in darkness and science in ignorance; The belief of LOVE.

I don't really think you can "force" a religion on somone since religion of any kind takes faith and belief. How do you force somone to believe?

Torture.

The Crusades.

That sort of thing. True, you can't force someone to believe, but you can force them to outwardly confess.

i think God has given us free will and He won't force us to obey him. so, i think that's our example.

Luke 16:31 ( NKJV ) 31But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

What's your opinion about people forcing their religion onto someone else?

It's detrimental to helping them in the long run. I wouldn't and never have. I rarely have talked about the church I attend because half of my close friends don't go to any church and my parents are atheists. I stand alone.

I think sharing your religion with people is okay, but when it comes to the point where you say "You're going to Hell for being an atheist." Then it's wrong, and if I were an atheist that would really anger me. I am Deist (at least I believe) and my family has told me I am going to Hell for not believing in Jesus. I think that that's wrong, and a very unkind thing to say to someone. Regardless of your religion, you should be tolerant and accepting of others beliefs.

I believe that we should all take a moment quickly and pray for Ramy and the people over there, were Islam is forced upon others, and killings even happen... thats just horrible, and I believe that you should never result to physical force or for the most part, mental force upon another with your belief, but you should witness and share with others... and talking about hell with others, that should not be the very first thing you talk about but you should introduce the idea.. because although it is harsh, even Jesus preached about the eternal torment of hell.. but never physically force someone to a religion of any kind !

How is wrong to tell people they are going to Hell if they are not a Christian? Besides, your post is inherently contradictory. You say we should all be tolerant and accepting of other beliefs right after being intolerant and non-accepting of Christianity. To deny the exclusivity of Christ is to deny Christ and the Christian faith itself.

I think forcing means a lot of what you see on this forum. :p Being overly persistent, annoying and downright arrogant about your beliefs. I know from personal experience this method, and I can promise when it is used on me it is ignored by default. Most people probably do something similar for the situation.

I think it's wrong to approach people and tell them that they'll burn for eternity if they don't choose such-and-such religion, and personally I don't believe in proselytizing, but that's just a personal belief. I understand that Christians are called to do so, but I do sometimes wish they would take no for an answer.
