  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So......how did you two meet?

Complicated story....good thing you put your chin on your hands to stay for a bit!!^_^

My parents knew hubbies parents. His family was born in this order boy, girl, boy. My family was girl, boy, girl. We are both the youngest.

We saw each other frequently when I was under three, he is five yrs my senior. My family moved away when I was three. We saw each other occationally during visits to see family. Time frames like: several times when I was 5, once when I was 8ish. Then my eldest sister and his eldest brother met and fell in love;they married when I was 13. I saw hubby again when I was 15 (now he was my 20 yr old brother in law.) When I was 22 I moved to be closer to my sister. He came to their house to see his brother and our nephews.

We talked a lot for three months. On the fourth of July we sat out together and watched fireworks. We still thought we were just friends. No one else thought that we were just friends. We went to a theme park together, we road on "The Spinnaker," when we got off we sat on a bench together very dizzy from the ride. We realized I was sitting in the crock of his arm on the bench......when we looked at up each other we just knew. Fourteen years later he still makes my head and heart dizzy  !!

We met at a party and the topic turned to religion. Soon we were sitting together as the only 2 Christians in the room! It was getting ugly as far as blasphemious remarks, so I offered him a ride home. As I dropped him off he asked for my phone number and kissed my hand goodbye, like a gentleman should. Then he called me the next day, we went on our first date. My fortune cookie said, "Quit looking for happiness, it is right in front of you." We were married 6 months later. The past 7 years have had their ups and downs, but he is still the only one for me! Jen

I went to a meeting at my Boss's office, he was in a meeting, so I was told to wait. A few minutes later, he came out alone and told me he was going to be busy for a few minutes, but to come on in. My future wife was in there. He introduced us something like this:
She's joining the District in a few months and I thought you might should meet her. I know that you've been good at reaching out to new folks and she might just need someone to talk to. Besides, I like you both, you're both single, and I'd like to see you two get together.
I was shocked. I'm a pastor, she was about to become one, he's the District Superintendent--what do you say? Come to find out, he had kept her there for 20 minutes waiting for me to get there!
We were both embarrassed and angry--we both hate fix-ups!
It was six months before we began dating, but then it was all over for the singel life!

Grab a pillow & get comfortable & I will give you the shorter version instead of the long story ...

It was back many years ago ... February 1977 ( see that's a long time ago ) well my friends & I every year had VALENTINE'S DAY PARTI'S and this year would be our last because I was graudating from HS & she was moving away.

Well ... invites were all sent & I was without a DATE so I went SOLO !! Well, upon arriving my friend took me downstairs to the basement were all the excitement was going on. She introduced me to her boyfriends roommate so he too was SOLO ... well we hit it off right from the start. Before long she had some songs playing of the record player ( remember things for all those that were around back then ) well she put on the song: MY SWEET LADY - JOHN DENVER favorite & well that song made me cry because I had just broken up w/ someone about 2 wks. prior to the party & well that was * our song * so I broke down & cried so this guy ... leaned over gave me a shoulder to cry on & he held me for awhile till the song was over which really helped out.

So, then I got up & asked my friend if she would put the song CRIMSON & CLOVERS on she did & so with hearing that song I leaned over towards this guy & KISSED HIM ... yes folks I kissed him. Well, I then had told him that I was IN LOVE WITH HIM ... well the rest of the night we were together & it was a WONDERFUL NIGHT for sure.

He walked me home that night in about 5 inches of FRESH SNOW & we got home & I got my stuff ready while he went back over to the house where the party was picked up his truck & came back over picked me up to take me back over to the parti because we were having a slumber parti that night w/ all the girls & so ... when we got back we stood outside for a bit under a big bright moon & he held me close & kissed me good night and said that he would see me in the morning which he did because I had to BOWL on a league.

We were together from February - May & the night of my SENIOR PROM yes ... my PROM NIGHT he propsed to me & I excepted. Well, my father was retiring from the AIR FORCE ( note: he was in the AIR FORCE too ) so we set a date to be married as of APRIL 1st 1978 ... well folks it's been 27 years since that FIRST KISS & we just celebrated our 26th year of marriage and we are still together. Very happy w/ 3 kids ... 23, 20, 16 years old. Living a brand new house that we have been saving for many years & we are very happy.

So ... that is our story & so here is a picture of us taken just months after we celebrated our 25th ANNIVERSARY so take care & I hope that this was romantic enough for you !!

Always, TBEAR

I met my husband in school. We were both around 14-15 when we first met and we were just friends at first though he really liked me alot and wanted us to be a couple. We got together in June 1999 when we were both 16 and he proposed five months later. We knew it'd be a long engagment with having to finish our education and then get jobs and save for the wedding. We originally thought we'd get married in June 2003 but in the end we started planning in October 2003 and got married this July.

My fiance and I met during our senior years of highschool.

This is kinda long, just to warn you.

I was working as a cook at Pizza Hut at the time. One night when I was closing a group of 3 guys came in about 30 min. before we closed. One of the guys brought McDonald's food with him (he didn't like pizza), and the other two ordered some food. In an adjacent booth, some of my friends (who also worked at Pizza Hut, but were off duty), were hanging out and chatting. I sat down to take a break with my friends and we listened in on the guys conversation. They were talking about drama and speech (which we were all into at the time), so we were daring one another to go talk to them. I had cooked some cinnamon sticks for my friends and when I brought them out I had a few left over and went over and offered them to the guys. We ended up talking for a while and found out they were from a town about 10 miles north of ours. They left right before closing and I figured I'd probably never see them again.

About 1 week later these guys show up at Pizza Hut again. I decided to go and invite them to my house when I got off work (which was crazy cause I barely knew them). We ended up being very good friends, and that guy with the McDonald's is now my best friend and my fiance.

The first time I met her she was my girlfriend's best friend. You know the type, always in the way & annoying. I had to compete with her to get time with the girlfriend, etc.

The girlfriend gave me the heave-ho and I went on with my life. One year later my room mates and I were planning a "welcome back to college party" at our house. We called everyone that we knew, including a freshman girl from my home town. She only knew two people on campus, and said she would only come to my party if she could bring her friend--the best friend of my old girl friend. The ex-girl friend's best friend and I had been less than friendly with each other, but I reluctantly agreed because I wanted our common friend there.

One week later I began dating the girl I had not wanted at my party. We have A little over a year later we were standing at an altar with each other. been a couple ever since. A great life--thirty years and three children later.

My huisband and I met the first time I ever went to anything at our church. I wasn't a Christian and it wasn't even actually church it was a cookout. And I was on a date with another guy! So the people at this party are all talking to me and learning about me and I tell them that I like baseball... A LOT! So they go oh you should talk to graig. I turn around and siiting in this bean bag chair playing guitar is this GORGEOUS! guy! YUM MY! WOW! So I give him a baseball trivia question and totally stump him. Which had never happened before. SO I continue dating this other guy (not Graig) for a few months and don't go to the church at all during this time. Then in January of 2001, I go to some more fun things and then finally an actualy service or two. I break up with the original guy, accpet Christ and start dating another guy. That lasted aboutt wo weeks and Graig was the only one that was like Doooode she's going to dump him it's going to be ok. So then I'm all single and stuff.
In July of that year we went to a baseball game together and on the way home he tells me all about how he really enjoys my company but only wants to be my friend. Tells me he never ever ever ever plans on dating me (Yeah right). So anyway by the end of August that very same year he liked me and by the next January he knew he was going to marry me. He actually wrote his wedding vows before he even asked me to date him!

I was working at a center for handicapped children and adults. The City of Garland came in to paint our building and Mikey was one of the crew. WE were friends for the longest time cause I was married at the time. Well my marriage was really rocky and one day God gave me my way out ANd I took it. (EX hit one one over the edge, And I beat him up witha hair dryer) I took off and went to my moms. I didn't show my face or talk to anyone for several weeks. Mikey came and found me, and made me face the world. We still continued to be friends even after the divorce. Maybe 5 months after it was final, I noticed I couldn't live without him. IT still took awhile, but things came together, I didn't want to rush. Needless to say We've been together for 7 years and have two kids. A boy and A girl.

My hubby was dating my best friend in highschool. That's how I met him, had a crush on him instantly but knew he was off limits. They broke up a year or so later and he eventually went off to the military after highschool. 5 years later he came back and I gave him a call. We've been inseparable since!

"Friday Forum" when Sophomores in HS. It was w/in a month of school starting (early Oct) and our first Friday gathering for all of the "high potential" students. Saw a friend who said to me "I'd like you to meet my friend Anne". That was it. I knew then and there, before she even said a word, that she was the one. :D :D :D

Short answer: Total Blind Date. We both couldn't pick any winners on our own, so our friends had to pick each other for us. In some ways, this does make a case for arranged marriages, as long as the parties in question have the right to say no.

Long answer: The year before, a friend of mine dragged me to this singles Bible Study. I was dating someone at the time, for the previous 4 years, and just didn't have the self esteem to get out of what was a destructive relationship. Long story short, I got back into church, dumped the guy, but just about everyone in the group had married each other or was getting married. Sooooo, after a year, they decided that I had been single long enough and they started setting me up with people. I went along with it as something to do on the weekend nights, but wasn't taking it too seriously. I met Adam on a weekend that had 2 blind dates set up, his was on Friday night, and another one was on Saturday. It was a group thing, which was great because we didn't say 5 words to each other - too nervous. He called the next Tuesday and we went out, just him and I. Six months later, we were engaged.

I met my hubby in the t.v. room (at 3am) of the co-ed dorm where we both lived. That's where we established a friendship for months. Then he sent me flowers for Valentines Day and we've been together ever since.

Oh, and btw, shortly after this - I gave my best friend (aka PollyAnna) my ex-high school boyfriends number and told her she should give him a call. ;)

Long story...

I had seen him a couple of times during my teen years cuz I knew his sister. I thought he was cute, but he was also a loser. hehe

We officially met in the USA, where we were both foreign students from Canada studying in Bible College.
We became friends instantly cuz we both had the same last name but were not related.
A week after we met, his long-distance girlfriend broke up with him, praise Jesus!
A month later, I was in love way over my head. But he was not interested at all, still recovering from his breakup.
That lasted 8 months. I prayed and prayed and prayed to see if he was the one for me. I knew... but what about him?

As we began our second semester in College, I noticed he was getting very different with me, you know, the more than friends attitude.
I couldn't stand not knowing if he was just messing with me or what... so I asked him what was going on...
And the next day, he said, "let's date" and "I love you" and "let's get married once we finish Bible College"! :D

Two years after that we got married. Now it's been a year and it's awesome!

I met my husband when I was 12 and he was 16, we hit it off (although I thought he was sooo old!) :D we ended up 'dating' on and off throughout the rest of our school years., we started dating each other, excusively when I was 14, (and COULD date) and he was 18, so we were high school sweethearts. 2 kids and together for 8+ years later (married for 2) we are still in love and always will be! :prayer:
