  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I went this past weekend...and it was awesome...this was my first time going I was on my butt the majority of the time because as soon as I would gain speed I'd freak out thinking I was going to crash into someone so I'd totally fall and try it out again...but it was real cool...how long did you take you guys to learn?

Hey there it is awesome to hear u r learning to snowboard, the biggest thing is lean forward! not backwards!! and dont look down, look exactly where u want to go! Your body follows your eyes.. that is so important, if u look down, well you boday follows your eyes so u r going to go down, It took me about 4 days to learn how to carve, but i have been snowboardign for 3 years and i still have a ton to learn , i ride mostly park now (jumps, pipe, and rails) I fall so much but it is all worth it!! Keep going! so worth it in the end!
God bless,
Have fun! and always wear a helmat!

HAha that's awesome you're going out and trying it.. the first 2 days are the worst. But if you can get over that and make yourself go till u learn it, its so rewarding! Hehe this is only my 5th year of boarding, but i go 100+ days a season (Snowboard Instructor <--- ) and i skii'd most my life when I was younger... hehe ya, its better to fall uphill than downhill. took me about 3 days to learn to link turns, and by the 4th i was carving. I suggest to all first-timers LESSONS!!! TRUST ME, they are the most rewarding if you are just starting. Nothing sucks worse than learning with a bad habbit, then having to kick it later :)

Wow ya that really sucks! Hehehe I know how that goes. I run the master computer for the largest automated snowmaking system in the world. I do that until January, and then I do snowboard instructing. Hehehe but ya it can be a chore in those hot area's where you don't get a lot of the natural stuff! I went boarding today tho WOOT it was lots of fun. Here's just a few bad pics.. I hope u get to go soon.

It took about 3 days for me to feel confident on my board. We had a nice instructor, I guess that helped us all a lot ;)
Funnily enough, I've never been scared of falling down and breaking something or so... maybe this sort of fearlessness helped me to learn faster. Once you got the know-how, you'll get hooked on snowboarding, I'm telling you.

Nice pics, J3sus Is My L0rd. This will be my third year snowboarding, if we ever get any snow over here. I just got a brand new board and I'm really anxious to try it out. I'd call myself an intermediate snowboarder. I can go down black diamonds without falling on my butt and go off the ramps with some decent tricks.. but I definitely have a long way to go. 100 days of snowboarding a year? Sounds like a great time. I bet you can do a lot of awesome stuff.

shoot, i think 2002-2003 was the first season, or maybe 2003-2004. either way, never had lessons since i skateboard so i figured (more or less correctly) that i could transfer over without too much trouble. so after much reading and watching of videos, i can snowboard pretty decently. at the least, i'll get down the hill all in one piece lololol.

No problem I am really good snowboarder and learned how to ride in 4 hours perfectly, learned how to ride switch in 2 hours. All i did was watch how to ride one side and then do the same. Sounds confusing let me explain further. Go somewhere completely flat with no slope AT ALL preferably bottom of the chair lift. Go on your toe side edge and notice the position of your arms, legs and body weight for this you might want to keep your weight slightly over your toes to counter act the forces and keep you level. turn with your shoulders and head. head is key in this because if you stand flat ground on your board turn your head and you will notice that your shoulders and legs move also. this can be practiced once learned to ride perfectly on heels and toes.

For advanced riding/ switch riding you want to keep the same in mind except this time shift your weight slightly over the front of the board thats facing down the mountain.

All the best i ask me for some videos also.
