You should watch Star Wars: Andor. Now is a good time to spring for two months of subscription. You can watch Season 1 of Andor, then Season 2 through May, and also catch Star Wars: Skeleton Crew along the way. All three are distinctly off the chain of the recent offerings and considered the best since Empire Strikes Back (except for some extremists who whine "It's not Star Wars enough"...no Jedi or light sabers or Force).Now that I have a 4yo daughter who's into anything Disney, I've been finding that I like the idea of live-action remakes a lot less than I like the actual experience. The Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid remakes stand up perfectly fine on their own. The Maleficent movies aren't remakes per se, but they're decent enough and the story is more interesting than the original. The kid went with grandma to see Snow White last week and liked it. I didn't go, but the original sucks, so it's hard to imagine the new one being any worse.
I have kind of the same opinion of the comic book thing - I like the idea less than I like the reality. This current iteration of the Batman universe, for example, is really solid. I have a hard time caring about most other cinematic universes (e.g. Star Wars, Marvel), but this one is landing for me. Even Joker: Foile a Deux, which everybody else hated, I thought was at least an interesting take on both the story and the jukebox musical genre.
That's why it's better to have a handful of specific reviewers whose idiosyncrasies you can grow to know. Even if you don't always agree with their outlook, if they can articulate the specifics of what they dislike (and especially if they can do so non-politically), they're still useful.The written reviews are what we're talking about. If you actually read them, a significant percentage of the negative ones appear to be written by AI (they use similar vocabulary, make similar arguments, and are structured like ChatGTP usually structures responses), and they're mostly posted by accounts that have never reviewed another movie. Those are hallmarks of "review-bombing" rather than legitimate critical reviews.

I haven't seen Pinnochio in years, so I won't comment on that one, but there's nothing at all "Christian" about Snow White, Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty, unless Princess Charming is somehow a metaphor for Christ and the hapless princesses the (occasionally underaged) Bride of Christ.
