Hm...the only thing I can think of related to this is that when Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were released, I didn't like a lot of its new Pokemon at first, but then I liked them more.

Speaking of which, there is a game series called Etrian Odyssey that I didn't like at first, but later liked.

I didn't like football and now I'm in a fantasy football league. :p

There have been people before that I didn't like at first, but after getting to know them I couldn't imagine my life without them in it! :)

Anime :p

(It takes awhile to get used to the art style)

Strange. I have had the reverse happen to me. My snap judgment upon first discovering anime as a 13 year-old was that I would love it - the entire culture of it, anyway - due to that one commercial I caught featuring those beautiful doe-eyed Sailor Soldiers in their mini-skirts ^-^, and the ensuing discovery that anime appeared to be such an underground thing among Americans in the 90's and before. So I liked to think of myself as a rebel for being so into it at the time.

.... Now, starting about a decade ago, I tend to really hate anime. Just, so many tropes about it really gets on my nerves. But I still really like the art style itself and the music for the most part.

Thus, I now hold strongly to a self-made philosophy:

"Say no to anime. Say yes to anime girls."

You're not the only one. I hear it's illegal to eat or serve in some parts of Asia because of the smell.

I grew up in Asia, both my parents loved it, so I decided one day to try...first try, it seriously smelled like vomit and looked like it, I did puke a couple of times but I persevered...and after the third try, I finally got used to the taste...

..Which reminds me of the missionary's prayer: Lord, if I get this down, You have to keep it down. Lol

am thinking... There are actually many things, songs and people that I have become to like that did not appeal to me differently. Even women that I met that may have not really appealed to me initially, some I became very attracted to. Normally though, it is still better to be attracted at some things from the start.
Most things and people that I liked right away though I still like.
