Thought this was pretty interesting. Basically people with ADD are likely to use nicotine to a far greater extent than the normal population, as nicotine treats ADD symptoms very effectively. 70% of the inattentive subtype smokes!
If you're having trouble quitting, it may be possible there are underlying mechanisms predisposing you to tobacco and nicotine use. Identifying and treating them may lessen the reason you're using tobacco products altogether.
Of course, that's not to say that specifically for you, ADD is the underlying reason, just that it may exist as a possibility.
