Smithville school resource officer on leave after using Taser to wake up a student in class
A Smithville school resource officer is on unpaid leave, accused of activating a Taser in an attempt to wake up a sleeping student in a classroom.

Officer Maryssa Boskoski, 32, works part-time and was assigned as a school resource officer for this school year.

A police officer should not be used to wake up sleeping students. A sleeping student is not a discipline problem, it could be a problem at home that does not allow them to get a full night of rest. Perhaps instead of calling a police officer, you call a counselor to make sure everything is okay with that student? And worst of all, why are you even unholstering your taser for such a situation?

Why would a principle or a teacher get a resource officer to begin with in this case? Tasers, that have actually caused death, should be locked up and only used in a case where someone is being severely physically abused and the abuser won't stop when commanded to. How often does that happen in a school?
