  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

small. Closer to everyone, and you feel more important. Not so small. Can't stand places like Portland, Oregon, or Chicago, or New York City, or Seattle, Washington.
yeeah but there are better jobs in the big town! but that isnt everything :)

I live in a town of about 2,000 people here in southeastern Missouri...I love not having traffic everywhere and being swarmed by people all the time like in a big city. I like being around nature. But I also like the fact that there is more to do in larger towns, there is nothing to do here, unless you are outdoorsy, which I sort of am, but still it gets boring. We don't even have a wal-mart, we have to drive 30 miles away to get to a wal-mart and a movie theater. The nearest mall is 2 hours away too. I like what DMMullinax said, a small town close to a big city. There is a town called Springfield, Missouri, and it is one of the biggest towns in the state, but it has a small town feel to it, and it's metro area goes out a long way and there are all sorts of small towns round there. I love the area, it is still very nature-filled, but there are a lot of opportunities, and you don't feel swarmed with people. I travel a lot of i go to a lot of big cities, I could never live there....fun to visit though. It's gonna be interesting this fall, I'm leaving for bible college in Oklahoma City

I lived in a small town, then a small city. I liked both.
I liked the small-ness and peacefulness of the small town, and having a lot of green space. But I liked how the small city had TONS more things to do, more restaurants, more places to go, etc.
I'd love to live in a small city, near the ocean or mountains or something like that.

I live in a town with only 2700 people in it. Id rather live in a somewhat larger town, though

I know what you mean, small towns are nice but jobs and activities just aren't there

Exactly! And if you're moving there as an adult; more likely than not you're moving into a town where it's difficult to pick up a job unless you've lived there all you're life. In other words, small towns have nice scenery but are otherwise [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse].

I like smaller cities. I live central valley California, so, if you know the average size of the cities there that's what I prefer. About 55,000 people in my city I think. Still wayy smaller than San Fran (about 800,000) and such. I like my city's size. :)

Big cities! More to do, more concerts and museums and activities, a better selection of churches, and most importantly variety in people. I like to be with all kinds of people, not just generic small town folk. The people in the town I've lived in since I was 10 are all very alike, very much a conformist and alcoholic group, and I don't like it. I want to some day live in a big city when I have a family, so my children aren't exposed to only one mindset growing up. Besides that, it's easier to find a church that works for you in a bigger town, because there's more variety there. I also have seen less racism in the bigger towns in my state, which is important.
