  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My poor baby has probably lost so much blood flow! I wake up every morning on my back... I try to fall asleep on my side, wake up in the middle of the night on my stomach with him like "pushing" me awake to move, and then I jsut wake up on my back with all the pillows on top of me.

He is okay in there now! My big strong boy. ^^ He will probably get a little bit more cranky as he gets bigger tho..

my doctor assures me that sleeping on my back will not cause any problems at all, and i wouldn't worry. if you had some particular type of medical problem that interfered with your blood flow, then your doctor might advise you against it, but if you're otherwise healthy, you can sleep on your back with no worries.

if you want to know for sure, just call your doctor's office and ask. this is my first pregnancy, too, and i've called my doctor at least a dozen times for random things.

When I was pregnant my doctor told me the best side to lay on was the left for better flow. I was so big I pretty much had to lay on one side or the other...if I was laying flat on my back I had a terrible time breathing and would wake up dizzy and coughing. With laying on my sides I would wake up hurting...my whole left or right side asleep. It was so uncomfortable those last couple of months. Not to mention when you get in the perfect position and then have to go pee.

The danger in lying on your back is collapsing the vena cava (the artery carrying blood from the liver to the heart). You would generally wake up due to the discomfort before there would be any actual damage to yourself, but it could cause a drop in blood pressure that could be damaging to the baby. So, load up on pillows.

Note to self: remind husband that I want a body pillow for Christmas.

The same thing happened to me while I was pregnant. My doctor told me that it was fine-- just to try to sleep on my side. I ended up sleeping somewhat on my back in the last couple of months, though. I had horrible indigestion and couldn't keep any food down if I ate right before bedtime (I had to wait 4 hours after eating in order to go to sleep... and then sometimes I would still wake up sick... it was like morning sickness all over again). I started sleeping sitting up with four pillows behind my back (in a kind of sitting/reclining position) so I wouldn't have such a problem with the indigestion. It also helped with the hip pain I was having during the night.

LOL, to going to pee. I have a body pillow now and it makes sleeping a little more comfortable.
