No skiing club? Searching, I find jokes about skiing uphill. I ski uphill! Telemark. Also alpine at the resort. Looking to head West for the first time late next season, but my fav (more) local ski hill is Mt Bohemia, MI. You can see it on any tiny little cheap globe. Find Lake Superior, look along it's south shore and you'll see a finger jutting out to the NE. At the tip of that is an extinct volcano. 300" snowfall annual average! No snowmaking or grooming. As tough as Jackson Hole, acre for acre according to those that have been both places. Of course a lot fewer acres, but most of it is tree skiing.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another skier.
In the tiny coal-mining town where I grew, Every child, once they walked independently, had 2 wooden boards strapped to their boots the next winter. (in my case, I was just 13 months young when I got started). - Born of necessity, as by age 5, each child each winter (1/2 the year) had to be skilled... on skis including their care & waxing, to get themselves to Kindergarten, & then school. Hence, by the time we were 5, we each were pretty good
little skiers., as that was our 2nd. mode of transportation, the only other way was walking, or bicycle which I didn't have.
((Once in school, we were also trained as sprinters, & gymnasts..., so we were mostly healthy & fit: really
helpful, maintaining Health-habits thruout life... Small wonder then, that decades later,
combining the enjoyment of Flexibility, speed, & jumping, people would naturally gravitate towards my passion of *Ice-skating* 
))
