Cute, nevertheless you DO admit you agree with the adage, that it's people who do the killing, not the guns they wield. Why then, if you admit that it's the people who do the killing, do you think it should be the tools they use to commit their crimes that we address rather than those who wield them for the purpose of killing? I mean - by your logic, the preventive measure for say, someone beating someone else to death, would be to hack off everyone's fists. And you MIGHT have a point - cuz if we did that, there would be no beatings, no "deaths by fist" anymore. But then, what's to prevent someone from using their foot to kick someone to death now? Hack off all feet and that surely wouldn't ever happen again... Shades of Monty Python and the Black Knight! FWIW, there are a LOT of things that "make it a heck of a lot easier" for someone to kill: Knives, Hatchets & axes, Cars & Trucks, Stones/Rocks, Airplanes, Bows and arrows, Slingshots, Candlesticks, Ropes, Wrenches (I like Clue), Bookends, Baseball bats. Power Tools, 100' cliffs... (I'm sure I've missed a couple here and there) Common to all, including firearms, are the individuals who wield them for nefarious purposes. But FAR MORE common to all are the vast multitude of individuals who use (or own) them for positive purposes.
