Sion versus Zion

Hi all.

Quick question: Mount sion (or Baal-sion or Hermon) and Mount Zion appear to be confused in the KJV in many places in the Brit Chadashah and at least one place in Psalms. Several places in Revelation are translated as Sion whereas the Greek appears to indicate Zion. The interesting thing here to me is that mount Baal-Hermon is on the side of the north being the northern boundary of the Kingdom. Has anyone else noticed this? What are your thoughts? Are there any Talmudic or references to Mount siont that would be informative?

I only found one use of the hebrew for Sion in the T'NaKah:

And, in the 7 places it occures in the Ketuvim Natzrim all are a word whoes derivation is from the hebrew word Zion:

...this seems questionable...is Hashem in Sion/Hermon?

And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: KJV.....this really seems questionable....I doubt that King Moshiach will come from the north country...

And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. KJV .....again, I am pretty sure that Zion is the proper translation here...

The KJV version is one of the only Bible Translations that seems to be confused about this. My questions are whether anyone else had noticed this? And whether there were any refs to Mount Hermon in the Talmud tbat anyone is aware of?

This is a translator’s error – the hebrew word is Zion…

In every instance of “Sion” in the Brit Chadesha it’s root word is the hebrew word “Zion.”

Conclusion:

Only in Devirim 4:48 is the word actually "Sion" - in all other instances the word is "Zion."

Thanks for the help on clarification. Interestingly, it appears to be a most unfortunate mistranslation:

Yerumiah 8:16 The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan : the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.

Thus, the next part of my question:

Doesn't the North refer Gog/Magog, i.e. those who will overrun Eretz Israel before the return of King Moshiach. Is Mount Hermon linked to this by any of the sages? Is there a sort of Sion vs Zion war?
