I’ve committed a sin very badly that I haven’t in a while. I’m terrified of what happens now, how am I still a Christian after CHOOSING to do this? I’m also scared of punishment, even though I know Jesus paid the price. Satan is already getting to me and I just can’t see.

That's exactly what confession is for. And penance. You are expressing remorse, which is good. And I think you are on the verge of contrition. So go for it. God will celebrate your confession.

Sin is sin …God does not put degrees on sin….society and religion do.

Sin is broken fellowship with the Father …it does not alter you sonship at all.

Just like when you screwed up in your earthly family (which I consistently did) you tell your parent(s) your sorry ….and get back in good graces with them…. With natural parents there might be some residual hurt or anger …that is not the case with God … the worst part of sin is to condemn yourself ….that in and of itself is disobedience to His Word → Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation (down judgment from God) to them which are in Christ Jesus.

Kick it to the curb and keep walking…

We all fall short at times, He picks us up when we fall. Jesus loves you so much and cares for you, you are His child. And I agree with another poster that in God's eyes, one sin is the same as another, one sin is not worse than another person's sin. Rest in God's love.
+ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
+ As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12

If the basis of your salvation is on what you do, you are in trouble. If your basis is on what Jesus has done, you are forgiven already. You need a better understanding of what it means to be saved:

You are born again, a new person with a new spirit that God declares to be righteous. (Galatians 2:20, 1 Peter 2:23)
You have redemption, the forgiveness of sin (Ephesians 1:7)
You died and your life is hidden in Christ with God (Colossians 3:3)
You are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17)
It is of God that you are in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:30)

I did a study a few years ago. I looked up the references that told us "in Christ" or in Him, meaning the same thing. I got to 50 before I said, "enough!" We need to be established in Christ. Temptations will come and we will fail. The real sin is to doubt God and the salvation that cost the life of His Son.

Doubt your doubts! Put them up against the Word of God! If God is for us, who can be against us? Yes, read Romans 8 and let Satan know that you consider God's faithfulness greater than Satan's accusations. You must resist with God's word, the sword of the Spirit. God will not punish you but Satan will show no mercy. Resist the devil. He has no choice but to flee.

Confess to God.

1 John 2:1 "these things I write to you that you sin NOT - but if anyone sins we have an advocate with the father".

Sin can only be overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit - who is infinite God. You have to walk with Him each day to have power. No one can defeat sin on their own. As soon as you start walking on your own - you will fall.

If you have sinned against another person you would still need to make that right so they won't suffer loss.

Sorry to hear your pain. Your repentance is well under way. Some sins require restitution to those affected by your sin. If it is self inflicted then you may want to consider someone to help you with accountability. Either way , these are steps taken towards repentance. Ask the Lord to fill you with His Holy Spirit for strength and endurance to overcome the weakness of the flesh.
Blessings.

Well for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

So you just do what we all do. Confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleans us from all unrighteousness. In other words get up dust off keep going. See one of the countless things Christ also died for was "guilt". There is none. Its why He died. So the heard part can be forgiving ones self knowing we have fallen in to this same trap so oh so many times. In these moments we RUN TO HIM not away. Sorry but in this walk we can not do it alone we need Him.

Know this nothing has the right to control you unless you allow it. Christ has set us free from sin. We are no longer slaves to sin. There are times we can get stuck in sin but RUN TO HIM. Keep your eyes on Him not the sin. Those doubts or condemnation pop up just say NO I have been set free by Christ Jesus and I have confess my sins He has forgiven me! Yeah when we say sorry know He forgives and remembers it not. So praise Him sing to Him stay in His word pray always. We all battle this day in day out. We don't renew our minds just once its every moment.

God still loves you, and forgiveness can always be achieved. He knows what sins we all have committed, but He will always love you, and He will always be there to listen and to forgive. My advice is to pray for guidance on how to move forward, and if you need, set up a meeting with your local priest.

Myself, I will pray for you too.
