  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Not quite, but sort of. My ex (who is Methodist like me) wants to be a pastor and is currently in seminary. He decided that if he wasn't married at ordination, then he never would be. Of course, all that is water under the bridge now since I heard he got married this past summer.

As far as life experience goes, no one should be having sex before they're married whether they are considering a religious vocation or not. There should not be any point in our lives were it is just a free-for-all before we get serious about what it is God has called each of us to do (and I'm not implying that is what you meant either), I just wanted to make that point.

I appreciate your input. Thanks.

If someone has made the serious decision (the decision has been made, no question this person will for sure go into a voccation) to become a Priest or a Nun then they shouldn't be out there it up

I've made a serious decision to enter full time pastoral ministry, and I still plan to court and hopefully eventually get married. There is NOTHING wrong with a future minister looking for a wife.

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,
1Ti 4:2 through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared,
1Ti 4:3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
1Ti 4:5 for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

And even if a person made a serious decision to remain celibate, that decision is theirs to alter should they decide that the reasons for the decision are no longer valid. This is the glory of Christian freedom.

Eh, I figured a brief comment about celibacy and Christian liberty was in order. That's the most I can contribute to the original poster. I'm not trying to change the subject really, I'm trying to add a thought to it.
