Singing!
Zephaniah 3:14, 17... Sing, O Daughter of Zion; shout aloud, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O Daughter of Jerusalem!
The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
How do you find peace and comfort when the storms of life rage against you? I find great comfort and delight in the above passage - especially in respect to the posts from last week. Look what it says - be gald and rejoice with all your heart! You know me, the way I do this is by singing to my King. Singing to your King in the face of a storm, especially singing God's word, is a wonderful way to face any storm, come into God's presence & feel His quietting love.
This idea is wonderful, but the idea that tickles my heart even more is that God is there taking delight & singing over us too. Isn't that awesome? Almighty God, the Creator of all things, delights & sings over us.
Here is the idea of that two way communication again. I just never applied it to singing. God wants us to sing with all our hearts to Him, especially when facing a storm. He also wants us to take time to listen to Him speak and even sing to us.
So next time you are facing a storm, why not try singing to your King and then let Him quiet your soul. During this 'stillness' be sure to listen for His voice - and don't be surprised if He is singing back to you!
___________
Thank You Lord that You are our refuge, that You quiet our souls with Your love. Help each of us boldly face the storms of our life with You by our sides. Help each of us take time to thank You, praise You, worship You and then help us listen. Thank You that You hear the songs of our lives and respond by singing over each of us. Please make the Lord Jesus Christ the song that each of our lives sing. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I find it incredible that this passage would be put on my heart today! Praise the Lord!
