I love this verse from "Angels from the Realms of Glory." It has particular meaning in this forum, I think.

Sages, leave your contemplations,
Brighter visions beam afar;
Seek the great desire of nations,
Ye have seen His natal star;

Worship Christ, the newborn King!

There have been some years where the holidays have been a bit of a challenge. During such times, I've always been drawn to this verse from "Away in a Manger."

I love the hope that rings through in this verse from "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear."

O ye beneath life's crushing load,

Who toil along the climbing way

And hear the angels sing.

This song by the angels was very encouraging to me when I was young.

Luke 2:13-14
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Then, in my later adult years, the Lord gave me to hear his Word (song of the Lamb).

Matt 10:34-37
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. KJV

This troubled me greatly, for I was working hard to have a happy family life.

Truly, the angels do not understand this conflict. They are stronger than us and have more knowledge of the natural world, but their spiritual understanding is limited. They desire to look into these things brought down to us by the holy Spirit through the apostles.
