Science has established that mental illness is brought on by trauma or stress or distress put on the mind to an extent that the brain chemistry can't cope with, and once the brain alters chemically from the mental illnesses, it can be passed on through families. I think when the first people did wrong, the shock of the guilt and the realization of what they did may have been too traumatic for them and may have triggered a massive alteration in their brain chemistry (think about it: the trauma of being seperated from God) and then this caused other physical and biological reactions and led to the body gradually breaking down and dying.
But how does this affect everything else? Why does everything else die?
Well, I believe the condition of things depends strongly on the way we inter-relate and that we and other living things are inter-dependent, and because we are the smartest and wisest species (in theory anyway) then we have a responsibility to the other life-forms. However we have had sin brought upon us by our forebears and this makes us selfish almost out of necessity because we have to focus too much on avoiding pain and suffering for ourselves, and consequently the rest of the World goes unloved or insufficiently cared for and eventually dies...plus I am willing to accept that animals, especially pets, probably learn to an extent from example and aren't purely instinctive.
Feedback, anyone??
