Eph 2:1 – 2:3 And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.(sin nature)

Sin Nature is the lusts of our flesh and of our mind. We are by nature children of wrath when we fulfil these lusts or live according to the old man, also known as ‘walking after the flesh’. The fact that we have a sin nature does not mean that we are unknowingly sinning every minute of every day, and does not mean we are incapable of obeying God’s commandments because of it. Paul not only makes us aware of this sin nature, he also tells us that we need to destroy it. He says that the old man cannot please God and will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Gal 5:16 – 5:24 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Crucify the flesh/Die to the flesh/put off the old man/mortify the deeds of the body

Rom 8:1 [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace. Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify (means put to death) the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

In closing, our sin nature is the lusts of the flesh and of the mind, and yes, we can overcome these lusts! We must crucify our flesh along with its lusts. Baptism by water represents this….dying to the flesh, (submersion in water) and being born of the spirit, (being brought back to life, a life given to God.)

Sounds pretty religious and self rightous to me. God created me from the dust of this earth and until He delivers me from this body of death my spirit will war with my flesh. Just like David and Paul; its the process God is after and the flesh is an important part of that process.

Praise God for my flesh.

It was God who caused the fall not little Adam's sin.

We can live above sin. We are saints not sinners. God never intended His children to live in defeat to a defeated enemy. We can be victorious over sin EVERY TIME, GUARANTEED by God Himself.

This is so wrong.

This is so contrary to what God is doing to His saints. "God hath laid on Christ the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:6. This verse means that God laid on Christ the responsibility to redeem us from the yolk of sin. God laid on Christ the task of participating in the life to work a redemption from the negative consequences of sin. And thus, He by the grace of God, tasted death for every man.

Not only does God know about the fall of a sparrow but He consents to its fall; and even more, He participates in its fall. To these facts Christ added, "Are ye not of more value than many sparrows?" He knew we were going to fall into sin and He consented to it; and more than that, He personally involved Himself in our fall. He is personally participating in the death process of every man. This is why the death process cannot fail to succeed .

Christ is not only the light which lighteth every man who comes into the world, He is also the means by which we are brought to the light. This is what Jesus is really like! He is the first One to enter the death process, and He will be the last One out of it. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End and all the letters in between. Is it any wonder that we worship and adore Him?

Christ will cause us to die out to the worldly values of power, and the pursuit of money and enjoyment. Christ has ways of crucifying the world to us so there is no longer any power or allurement to cause us to chase its empty pleasure. He has ways of making us so much not of this world's values that we will marvel that anyone can be tempted by its hollow offers. Only spiritual values are of lasting value, and the cross will do its work in us until we become convinced that this is true. This is not a loss, but a gain, for it will result in genuine peace and contentment.

Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly." In that little word "and" is contained all the process of dying out to the old, and coming alive to the new.

Yes, LST 1154. Also know as the USS Tallahatchie County (so named in 1955.)

I agree 100% with everything you have written except "This is so wrong."
What is wrong with 1 Cor 10:13, "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." This is not a pie in the sky promise that works sometimes, or most of the time, this is a promise that works 100% of the time if you have the Spirit of Christ dwelling in you. If it doesn't for you something is not right with your relationship with Christ.

I'm not "kidding" anyone, I'm simply stating the truth founf in 1 Cor 10:13, "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."

I can't seem to find anywhere in this passage where this promise is limited to a select few, or only works one time in a thousand, or is only applicable to the super-Christian, but is for anyone who has the Spirit of Christ dwelling in them. If it doesn't work for you 100% of the time something is not right with your relationship with Christ.

I notice that the passage is clear that our "way of escape" is provided by Christ.
You are correct that it is not for a few, or for "super-Christians".

But we often fail because we don't always recognize what that way of escape is. That could be for many reasons: lack of knowledge, slow thinking, fooled by our emotions or our desires, confusion, fatigue, etc.

Failure isn't necessarily the result of something wrong in our relationship with Christ.

I'm not making excuses for sin, just looking at real life. Each of us is personally responsible for our own sins.

The sin nature, and your nature and GOD's nature are different things.
The bible teaches that the 'sin nature' or 'flesh' is not you! (but we all have one,
and its simply satan's nature).

It wants to kill us (destroy us) and our job with GOD'S SPIRIT is to put it to death.
