9:15 is the crack of dawn? Since when?
I'm in a weird mood today. I stayed up until 2 am last night, and then spent all morning cleaning (voluntarily). I hate cleaning.
I was up at 3:30am yesterday (Pacific time - here.) I needed to be at work by 5am, because I had telephome meetings with co-workers in Denmark. I started drinking coffee and espresso immediately; it did absolutely no good. By the time 3:00pm rolled around, I was useless. I went home, and was successful at being usless there too. I took a nap just before dinner, and finally crashed at 9pm.SPALATIN said:When Kepler wrote the post it was 6:16am his time in California. Of course I was up at 5:30 central time which is 3:30 Pacific.
Now I'm tired.

Not been in for a while so thought I'd stop by and say hello.
Any chance of a cold beer?

Does anybody want any cutco knives? LOL I am a sales rep for them. The thing is, I will NOT lie like Vector marketing WANTS me to lie. I feel like one of those sleazy used car salespeople with the things they want me to say at times.
I have really sharp knives, though! I don't know what that has to do with anything, but I do. . .

Cutco is the brand name. Alcas is the corporate name. That's what we always called the knives - Alcas.
In fact, my father's company manufactured a machine that polishes and puts the mirror finish on the blades. (He also built a machine for Zippo lighters, made in Bradford, PA, right over the state line.)
As for Vector, what "lies" do they want you to tell people? I am curious...

You lived in Olean?

KagomeShuko said:No, I've never lived in Olean. Every summer, Vector opens an office in Lake Charles - and then closes it without warning. They do this in many cities across the United States. . .
For me, it's just a job right now. . .cool knives, bad marketing.
LutherNut said:Actually, I was asking DaRev if he lived in Olean since he said that's where Cutco knives are made. It's not far from where I live.
KagomeShuko said:First, Vector tells lies:
Earning $13 an hour sounds great! That's what they advertise for job openings. (Amount varies, of course). It's not true, it's $13 or the commission on what you sell per appointment - depending on what's higher.
They say that it is not telemarketing or door-to-door sales. This is false as well. They used to tell reps they had to spend three hours on the phone per night calling references to get appointments - cold calling just saying, "Hey, so and so gave me your number." It's only changed one little bit - now the people you see call the person and THEN the rep calls the person. They also teach you a "door to door" type approach in training.
They give you a prompt to read on the phone that says that the person doesn't need to buy anything but they can get something if they want it when you visit. . .of course, this is true, but they want you to push a sale, preferrably for the homemaker set.
