Silent Running/99 Red Balloons

I've been wondering about these two songs lately. 99 Red Balloons by Nena and Silent Running by Mike and Mechanics. They both seem to be about war. Does anyone have any thought about what they're supposed to be about?

99 Red balloons is, IIRC, about somebody releasing 99 red ballloons and people mistaking it for nuclear launches and then firing off a bunch of nukes at eachother.

99 red balloons is anti-war (The original German is more anti-war, though..you can interpret it that way more easily).
