Ever since the first SH was released I was hooked, and after running across this a few weeks ago, I've been harassing anyone with any knowledge about SH4 trying to find out what to expect.

Konami is developing another sequel involving a man who is traped within his apartment and his only way of getting anywhere is by plunging himself into the same nightmare world we know and love (yeah right).

I'd like to know your opinions on the Silent Hill series and if you plan on picking up SH4.

I started out with SH1 and never could get into it because of the control scheme.

After picking up SH2 as a leap of faith, I found the 2D control more than allowed me to enjoy the game to the fullest. It remains my fave SH game.

I just finished SH3 a few days ago. I liked the game a lot, but I miss some of the wandering around in town, as well as the more psychological scares. However, the game didn't leave me wanting for any blood and gore-related scares. Still a great game. Liked it a lot.

I just now started back into SH1 and I'm actually starting to get the hang of the 3D scheme. I still hope they remake it with 2D someday *crosses fingers*. It's shaping up to be darned good too.

I'm looking forward to SH4. If you want a lot of info about it (maybe too much info as sometimes there can be spoilers with so many people throwing info around about a game), then go here: http://silenthillforum.co.uk/forum/ and look in their SH4 section. There are lots of pictures and theories to whet your appetite. Be warned of spoilers though.

Man I love the Silent Hill series. So wonderfully scary and well done.

You know you can toggle 2D control on SH3 right? It is useful, I agree--not very fond of "realistic controls"

Did you catch the Happy Birthday phonecall in the Hospital in SH3? That's one of my favourite scares from that one...right next to the blood shower in the storage room.

If you haven't already, check out the trailer for SH4 on Konami's website--looking great.

Yep, I know about the 2D/3D toggle. It was SH1 that I wished had a 2D mode on it, but I'm getting better at it. Just got out of the school, so I must be doing something right.

The happy birthday phone call was awesomely done. If one listens closely to the ages that Stanley Forman gives, you can tell what he's talking about when he refers to Heather.

The infamous mirror room scene killed me the first time. I didn't know that you were supposed to wait until your reflection stopped before you tried to get out. I tried to get out and the door never opened and I was deadified.

The trailers for SH4 that I've seen look wonderful. It looks to be a good mixture of visceral horror of SH4 and the psychological horror of SH2. Good stuffs indeed

What was he talking about? I was to busy cracking up and looking over my shoulder.

He says: Happy 7th birthday, Happy 24th Birthday, Happy 17th birthday, and Happy 1st birthday.

Each of these ages corresponds to: (bah, I can't figure out the spoiler tags for this place, if you guys have them)

Oh, and I made a gaff, the guy on the phone doesn't say he's Stanley or Leonard either. Stanley's in the morgue. He's "number 7"...

Let me think... I dunno if you'd consider the crying and the bloody footprints in the chapel scary or not, but that's a strange occurance. Then you have the walls in the unknown subway area bleeding on the second playthrough. The bleeding walls in the chapel after you get the last tarot card... I can't really think of any other really spooky bits. As for "BOO!" type scares, what you mentioned in the Haunted Mansion and the manniquin room were about it I think.

Sh is BY FAR the best survival horror game... Or should i say was.

I really don't like the new team they had for 3, and there using the same team for 4. I don't find the startaling thing scary, but I loved the eirie and drab, dark feel of the fist 2, and the superb story telling wich made it scary. ...somthing they droped for 3.

We borrowed Silent Hill.. the origional several years ago... it is the only game I ever found I was seriously addicted to... just couldn't put it down until I reached the end... which was err... a bit wierd! I didn't like the ending.

But we now just bought Silent Hill 2 for the xbox! I hope it will be as good as the first game was! I still have great memories of playing that game!

The only other games I like are Tomb Raider... but still no sign of this being released for the xbox though.

What ending did you get, there are 4. ...atleast, that was asmany as i got.

somone who likes tomb raider! ...explain, please..

lol... you don't like Tomb Raider! lol! It is a game that appeals to me because I like to be a female type of character when I play a game. .. so it is a game I can relate to more than most games.

There are 4 endings! I knew there was a bit of choice in the endings... but we had to give the game back... and we didn't like the conclusion. What were the options..?

The end we got was killing the little girl. We thought the motivation was to rescue her.

Let me just say, that if you were handed a baby, and if the cop went with you, you got the Good+ ending. If you were handed a baby and the cop wasn't with you, you got the Good- ending. There's a couple of bad endings too. Bad+ and Bad-, but you'd definately know if you got Bad-.
There's also a gag ending that's not really related to the plot at all, but you have to use an item that you can only get on the second play through.

I really don't like the new team they had for 3, and there using the same team for 4.

As far as SH4 goes, from what I heard and read, the same team that worked on 2 will be working on 4. The SH2 team were working on SH4 for quite a long time before we heard about it. It's why they had a different team work on SH3, the SH2 team were busy with planning out the new game.
