  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Okay so I changed my pro-life signature so I could fit a bible verse in it at another site. I didn't change my pro-life views just to a verse I like.

The other day I had a debate with someone who was prochoice and was of course booted because it got to heated or whatever. Then we debated on what counts as suicide and how there are no unforgivable sins. I don't think suicide is unforgivable as I stated. I think that blasphemy of the holy spirit is unforgivable because Jesus says so.

I quoted the bible on that and she said that the bible is not the be all and end all to Christianity and we don't absolutely need it. I believe that without God's Holy Inspired Word we could not very well call ourselves Christians and if it did not exist we would probably not have Christianity unless by word of mouth which is not always sound but the bible is very sound.

So she says she doesn't partake in the bible or whatever.

Then after I changed my signature to a verse that was unrelated to her belief in unpardonable sin she changed hers today to say
Matthew 6:5,7 but for someone who doesn't take the bible as seriously as I do and then add a bible verse to her signature......it makes me wonder if she changed over night or if she's trying to have a signature war which I will not partake in.

It seems innocent enough since it has nothing to do with me since I do not pray in the streets or use meaningless repetion when praying but I pray in my room by myself on my knees and silently. When I pray in church I do stand but that's because we are told to Please Stand as we sing a hymn then we follow our hymn with a reflective prayer before sitting. She doesn't even go to my church so I don't think its referring to me.

I am beign paranoid but she did just boot me from a pro-life/prochoice debate and did just tell me 24 hours ago that the bible isn't important to her and its not the be all and end all of Christianity and that she doesn't beleive everything it says.

I pray :prayer: that the Holy Spirit has moved her and she decided that the bible was as important as I said and that's why she changed her signature with a verse from the bible.

It probly is a mini "war"... how anyone can use the Bible to support that scripture isn't God's truth to man is beyond me, but Peter said it best in 2 Pet. 3:15-16.

This is the liberal you mentioned in the other thread?

I always ask them to pick out what's false & tell me what makes them such the scholar to decide it's not true. Then pick out what's true & tell me what makes them the spiritual authority to decide that is true.

The problem becomes when they don't have any education in Greek, Hebrew or ancient history to be able to judge with any proper level of biblical education, what's true & false all thru scripture.
That means they randomly plow thru it & decide on a whim that something doesn't belong...

Once they decide that, they utterly leave themselves no foundation to believe & accept the parts that they claim are true becuz they've just made the bible totally unreliable and incapable of being any authority on spiritual truth in Christianity.

They've essentially created their own religion and god and slapped the term "Christian" onto it.

That practice sure isn't limited to liberals...
Oh I know that - & I wasn't implying that either.

I just know from the other thread that the same lady she was referring to was liberal, I didn't know if that's the same lady she was talking about or not.

Even Bill OReilly has said he has issues w/ alot of the Bible & how it's not to be taken literally, etc.

Yeah, I remember O'Reilly saying that he would never be part of a church that actually practiced what is outlined in Matthew 18:15-20. Guess he's not Catholic anymore. ^_^

:) Now I just stick to CC where it's nice and cosy...
Ya, I tend to hang out here alot more now too.

It's not like I can't take disagreement, just that it got so bad
when even the very basics of Christianity are rejected where they shouldn't be....
Sometimes you wonder what's the point.
