• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Isn't that what the little icon is for next to a person's name? If it's orange, then it means they are signed off. This would imply that they are not ignoring you.

I don't actually sign out, so depending upon how it decides if I am on or not, it may be a bad indicator. Often, I will leave CF up with my computer locked during the day, and sometimes I have CF up and am using the internet, but doing something totally unrelated (like reading random things on wikipedia).

Can be set so that it is always orange. Setting in your User CP under Options, invisible mode. :p (I'm just signing in here as the systems geek :D)

I think we need a thread for saying goodnight or goodbye when we are leaving for the day.

That way we won't think we are ignoring each other.

Unless of course we really are. But that doesn't need to be addressed.

:thumbsup::wave::clap:

Or,:amen::pray::groupray:

Instead of saying goodnight or goodbye, I think I'll just say hi. :)

Do a lot of people use invisible mode? I assume it's a tool for when people want to look at things on the site they might be ashamed of revealing, like sexual struggles or self esteem issues or something, but couldn't they just log out and look at it as a guest if they want to?

LOL! I didn't even know this was an option.. :D Why would one do this? To keep themselves hidden on the boards?

That's kind of ridiculous. Just sign out then! :p

Upper level staff members do, people that just want to stay online and be able to post but dont want to show up, and sometimes you need special access to forums (like gender specific forums) which are unaccessible due to access masks when you are a guest. A few people use them. :)

LOL! I didn't even know this was an option..
Sure is! :D

I thought it was a staff only thing, but now that I'm not seeing it (but remember having it when I was on RT) - I actually think this is for upper staff only.

Will we have to give excuses?

That way we won't think we are ignoring each other.
I´m not gifted for paranoia.
If people don´t respond to a post of mine, I am assuming they aren´t online. That way I won´t even be tempted to think they are ignoring me.

I prefer to not take things personally.
If people don´t respond to a post of mine and I see they are online, I am assuming they just have no interest in responding to this particular post. That way I won´t even be tempted to think they are ignoring me.

When I am in the midst of an interesting conversation with one person and have to leave, I think I prefer to give them a notification directly in the thread in question.

Unless of course we really are. But that doesn't need to be addressed.
The glass is half full.

I just assume everyone has a life and comes online only when they have a bit of free time. I never think I'm being ignored on forums.

And even if I am (being ignored)... it's a forum... if everyone doesn't jump to reply to a comment I make I'm not sure why I would be all that stressed out about it.

Sorry, keeping up with minutiae of polite behavior in everyday "real" life is hard enough- other than curbing the occasional desire to insult I don't feel inclined to make sure everyone knows I'm just "offline" as opposed to ignored. Heck there are posters I ignore.. to help avoid that desire to insult...
