Yeah, now I sound like 12 stones doing "erics song" "Sick and tired of living this way, sick and tired of being alone"

ANYWAY!

I am so tired of hearing all the crud on the radio when it comes to Christian stations, it's no wonder kids my age (14) think Christian music is boring. The only good radio stations I have found are "The Effect" and "Air1" the effect being the better of the two. I mean come on, stations like "K Love" and "The Fish" almost NEVER play stuff from bands like Kutless, 12 Stones, SKillet and many others. It's all "bubblegum music" like Michael W Smith and all the others. I just moved from Oregon were I could get "The Effect" and "air1" now I'm in Georgia, have lived here 3 months now and not once have I heard Kutless. SO I have to tune in over the internet to get a good radio station!

Thanks for the link, BUT I'm not the problem here, I know good music, and have found good bands like Kutless, 12 Stones, Skillet, Anberlin, Newsboys, Audio A, Lifehouse, Sanctus Real, and a few others, my point is that there are thousands of guys my age who think that Christian music all sounds like what some of these "praise and worship" people do. It really isn't fare.

I too wish they had better christian music radio stations around here too. The closet we have is Air1 and that isn't that good either. Oh well, most radio stinks anyway, it's all taken over by Clear channel. I listen to cd's mostly.

Yeah, except you can't really hear DIFFERENT bands unless you listen to the radio.
I thought you said that the bands on the radio are far away from your interests. amazon.com has thirty second song samples for the first five songs for most CDs. Try that.

They also have a live stream for videos also. Hope it helps a little with the variety.

True, RadioU is really good with their music, they don't do the 15min commerical thing, and they also have a sister station that play music videos on satellite tv. You can listen to RadioU at the address LadyLamond put up or you can watch TVU online at: tvulive.com
Both of them definitely play 12 Stones, Kutless, and Skillet ..they also play bands like Blindside, Jeremy Camp, Mars Ill, John Reuben, POD, Falling Up, Nate Sallie, FM Static, Audio A, Newsboys, Barlow Girl, Side Walk Slam, Further Seems Forever, 4th Avenue Jones, ...and many many others. It's a good mix though. I wish more Christian radio stations would fall that kind of example.

I find that a lot of Christian radio stations IF they play those bands they play their slow songs. ...RadioU doesn't [nor does TVU]. In fact they usually stay away from the slow stuff. They also have "shows" on the weekend one of which I happen to love which is "the Elektric Circus" [I think that's how they spell it.. it's suppose to be a lil off] Which isn't "the usual" Christian music at all, but it's beautiful ..I love it. Also the have "the hXc show" and "Hip Hop Planet" on the weekends.

If you feel like trying something better than the usual Christian "rock" stations, check em out.

You people don't seem to see the point, I'm not the problem, it's the rest of the world that "doesn't" know about good Christian rock music. It's just not fare to them.
Oh, I know good Christian music. Do you know joy electric and starflyer 59? Pony express and map? Pedro the Lion and Damien Jurado?

And, I don't think they should have to pay a fare, but, yes, it isn't fair to them.

I get that. ...But at the same time, I guess you have to start somewhere, you know? I live in an area where it seems like there's a lil less than nothing out here. The area I use to live in got RadioU and that was like an awesome huge blessing to have, but I moved out here and heard the Christian radio station they have out here and honestly... I wouldn't blame the kids around here for not liking Christian music or thinking it's lame. Which also made me super ticked at the Christian radio station out here for saying they play cool Christian music than it's like super lame-o.
But you've got start somewhere. Like me... I couldn't change the stupid Christian radio station out here, but I could tell all the kids that I talk to and work with [and whatnot] that Christian music isn't lame like that, and then show them the music that I have. It doesn't seem like much when tons of other kids & ppl are hearing that lame music the station is putting out and that give them a mindset, but at least I'm doing what I can. And it's catching on slowly.

I do understand though. My suggestion would be check out the TVU for urself then pass it on to your friends as well. It's not much, but it'll be a beginning at least.

There was a time back in high school when a girl was going through my CDs and asked who P.O.D. were. This was before they made it big. She explained that her mom had gotten it for her in an effort to straighten her out and she didn't want to hear it because it was Christian and she thought all Christian bands automatically sucked. This was in the art room, I should have popped that CD in the stereo. It was her kind of music, too.

I understand completly. I have the same problems with a lot of people I know. I am always talking about how good it is and everything and all the different varieties of christian music their is. They just won't go near any of because of their initial impression of it.

I was talking to this kid about Christian rock and he kept saying that christian music was bad just because he saw one of those infomercials for "Top 20 Christian Worship songs" or whatever that is and saw all the people singing over and over "Our god is an awesome God" yadda, yadda, yadda.... and he got the idea in his head that that's how all christian music is.

(also even better than Amazon is "Sound and Spirit" they feature Christain music, and you can still listen to like 30 seconds of the song or whatever)
