This is a bit of a dubble whammy this post cus they r related, but wasnt sure where to post the second part of this post i decided here was the best place as any!

Heres what happened! to day in a lecture at college, i hav nothin to do and was gettin bored and depressed! but then suddenly a thought poped in to my head ever so strong and the thought was of me standing up and telling every one that Jesus Loves them.

SO my questions are how can i be sure if that was God prompting me or just a random thought cus i was bored?

Also im not an out going person so probably evry 1 would of though i hav gone mad, but has ne 1 had ne other simmilar circumstances? and wots the best way to tell my class mates?

Hi friend. Welcome to the forums! You're post is in the right place.

Remember 'feelings' aren't a movement of the Holy Spirit.

Picture two true story scenarios.

One guy goes out to the street holding up a sign that says 'Jesus loves you!'. He dances around on the streets, sings like a lunatic and shouts out 'Jesus loves you!' over and over again.

Another guy, holds tracts in his hand. He walks up to people, calmly, stops them for a minute to show them a small optical illusion. After that he brings up the subject of eternity and shares his faith one to one.

Question for you: Based on your feeling of these two scenarios, which of these two do you think the Holy Spirit is working through? Well if you are honest, it will be the second scenario.

I think the feeling you experienced is just that. Just a feeling.

The difference with the Holy Spirit is that He will consume you.

Jeremiah said "He touched me mouth and my lips became fire, I'm a wine skin ready to burst, I cannot contain it".

A pastor I know felt the Holy Spirit well up through him as he preached with supernatural passion and courage.

When the Holy Spirit is moving you, it's more than a feeling. The tricky part for us is to grow sensitive enough to descern which it is. The best way to descern is to see what the feeling is wanting you to do, match it up to the biblical principle and if it isn't, don't.

In some ways, I agree, but the Holy Spirit doesn't always communicate with such grandiosity. It may give directions on very simple things.

I think that we should weigh up our feelings intelligently, rather than just wait for the Holy Spirit to do something amazing.

bob, I definately think it's wrong to interrupt a lecture.
