Hey! I'm the new kid...for now...hahaha

I can't believe I stumbled upon more Christian writers on the web! Nice! I just want to say a word of encouragement about our God-given gift of writing.

Writing is pretty darn important. Even though classics such as "The Crucible" and Moby Dick made you snooze in your English class, they had made a tremendous impact on our world! Plus I assume a lot of people get affected by writing. You know Harry Potter? That made a huge punch!

As writers for Christ, we must pick up our pencils/pens, fight off procastination and anything that hinders us from writing, and use this God-given gift to influence the world! I bet there are readers out there who will get capture by the words.

Even though it's almost every writer's dream to get published, it doesn't mean if you're not published there's no success. You should always share your writing with your friends. Ask God to guide you on catching ideas! I get a handful of ideas at school(note: I'm a junior in high school), but I hardly write much as I should.

Writers for Christ are in a great need!

Welcome aboard, Disciple.

I agree about sharing our writing! I do hope to get published someday (don't we all, lol), but I recently decided that I would share my poetry freely on the web. (Poetry is not what I want to publish anyway; I want to publish novel-length stories. So why not share my poetry?)

God bless!

That's a commitment. To me, writing a novel is a commitment. It's like you're getting married to your idea. I thought of a novel in mind, but I have to get "married" to that commitment first!

I would love to hear what story you wish to write... if you think someone might steal or something, u don't have to share.

I'm 20,000 words into my novel, but this month I'm taking a break from it to do National Novel Writing Month. I'm mainly doing that project to improve my "writing muscle" and get used to writing greater amounts per day. I have no vested interest in the topic which I am writing about this month, other than I desire to prove to myself that I can do it.

My "real" novel, however, is my baby. My username on this forum is actually the name of my main character. :pink: The main topic is adoption and the effects adoption has on the adoptee. I also recently had a vision of turning this into a series: each book from the POV of a different player in the adoption. (Birth mother, birth father, adopted mother, whatever.) I already have several ideas written down for the birth mother story. But of course I have to finish my current story first. :) It's a struggle at times, but I'm definitely committed to this story for the long haul!

God bless!

lol, disciple, I was thinking of the metaphor you used of committing to a story being like getting married to it. It made me think of my husband's attitude about me doing NaNoWriMo...he hasn't said it in this terminology, but to put it into your metaphor...he thinks I'm "cheating on" my main story! He thinks I should be exclusive and agree not to see other stories, lol.

Blessed-one: Thanks! I find it so hard to describe my story, so I was worried that how I said it would be too vague or not make any sense.
