With the growing dissent worldwide against the U.S. and it's percieved empirical motivations, should we as a nation disarm our military and then submit to international rule?

KalEl76 said:Don't assume I'm for international rule, okay. I would hate to have to listen to the UN when I go into combat nor would my fellow Marines, for the U.N isn't know for their success in battle. I'm presenting this to see how the overall consensus is, so don't assume too much without know the individual.![]()
Last time I checked, the US was not a theocracy.Neverstop said:Since the majority of Americans are self proclaimed Christians I say put your feet where your mouths are...
"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
2nd Corinthians 10:3-5 NIV
What was your point? I took it as though you were trying to show a contradiction with "self-proclaimed Christians." They're religion does not support war, so they shouldn't be supporting a government that starts wars. Is this wrong?Neverstop said:No kidding!![]()
This only ignores the points in my post so if my posts are going to be quoted...then can the points at least be responded to instead of these...things.

Terrible scripture to use 'against' having a military.
There is a big difference between placing an old motto on US currency and actually implementing government policies based on religion. So no, I don't see the problem. Why don't you just lay it out for me?Neverstop said:US currency says, "In God We Trust"
NO! IT CAN'T! The US is not a Theocracy!
See the problem?
Neverstop said:It's a wonderful scripture for those who understand the physical is but an illusion.
It's not an accident that every pro-war person I have met likes to dismiss this scripture as only applying to "spiritual." I actually had another person the other day try to tell me that Jesus gave non-violent instruction for our "personal" lives and that it did not apply to government. I would like to know how one person killing another person is NOT "personal?"

Holidays have more to do with cultural traditions than Bible quotes. So I see no problem with this, but I am a strong believer that government policies, such as international relations, should not be based on religion.Neverstop said:The point is that the US does not have to be a Theocracy for certain things to happen. That motto was put on the money like what...60 years ago....and Christmas is a Federal Holiday is it not? Yet the US is not a theocracy...get it?
