That is true but I had a friend who tried LSD and he said that he was on a staircase for what felt like an hour and he could not go anywhere and also I have heard from someone that when they drive they sometimes see 18-wheelers pop out of nowhere due to excessive LSD use that messes with their brain permanently. Not everyone is as chill and mellow as Cheech and Chong and sees flowers and smiling suns.Brian Wilson took a lot more than LSD. Besides, LSD is completely non-addictive, cures depression and cluster headaches, and the only negative affects are correlated with people who have pre-existing mental issues. So no, it's pretty safe, actually.
I do not think marijuana should be illegal. I think you should be 21 to smoke it but I think LSD and anything that makes you hallucinate should be illegal.I could be wrong, but what learned, the war on drugs has cost billions & hasn't stopped it from being used? It has done more harm than good. It created a trafficking system that cost more lifes than we will ever hear about. They do spend allot trying to stop it at the borders. Making it less available seems to increase its price & market for manufacturing more harmful drugs? If legalizing marijuana would cut down on all the deaths caused by the illegal trafficking & meth abuse I'd be for it. It seems to be too often available to kids looking for it. Sounds like more of a admitting making it illegal hasn't been working? For the record I don't smoke and never smoked the stuff.

I kind of used Cheech and Chong as a metaphor for someone who is open to drugs. Example: When Chong tried to snort that powdery soap. But anyway, I do not think that drugs are the world's biggest problem right now but when we as Christians start saying that altering your state of mind is OK where do we draw the line? I would love for everyone to take LSD and find God but I know too many people that have had bad trips and it scarred them for life!Cheech and Chong did pot. Not LSD. It doesn't "mess with your brain permanently" unless you have a pre-existing condition such as schizophrenia, severe depression, or OCD.
I don't do drugs though, and never have.
And to add to that even Dave Grohl said he gave it up after having tiny dinosaurs nip at his feet. This is a guy who was in a band with Kurt Cobain who took lots of drugs.I kind of used Cheech and Chong as a metaphor for someone who is open to drugs. I do not think drugs should be legal I guess I kind of felt pressure to say that. My real concern is that people on this website ACTUALLY think LSD is OK and I disagree with that 100%. I actually agree with you. I am sorry if I made it look like I think drugs are OK.
I see what you are saying. You know what, I am going to stop discussing it here because I know what the drug professionals say are mostly true. I do not condone drugs nor would I vote to legalize it but I do think you should not serve time in jail for it. I do not think drugs are worthy of jail time but I do think we need to make sure the drugs do not get into the hands of crazy people and that if people are going to take it they should make sure they are mentally stable. I am done discussing this! Have a good sunday, dude.I know, I know, I'm a terrible person for thinking that LSD is ok.
From the National Institute of Drug Abuse "LSD is not considered an addictive drug since it does not produce compulsive drug-seeking behavior. However, LSD does produce tolerance, so some users who take the drug repeatedly must take progressively higher doses to achieve the state of intoxication that they had previously achieved."
Here's what I assume you keep hinting at, even though you have no evidence to back it up aside from band members. "In some individuals, the flashbacks can persist and cause significant distress or impairment in social or occupational functioning, a condition known as hallucinogen-induced persisting perceptual disorder (HPPD)."
However, HPPD is almost exclusively linked with people who do other hallucinogens (*cough* Peyote *cough*) and only really occurs if the subject has pre-existing mental conditions such as schizophrenia, OCD, manic depression, &c.
Brian Wilson, who you used as your first example, was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type which supposedly caused him to hear voices in his head. He wasn't a normal person taking LSD. Likewise, Dave Grohl took LSD during a time when he was suffering from severe depression over the death of Kurt Cobain.
LSD does give you flashbacks, but it has only been proven in cases where there are definitive pre-existing mental conditions.
I don't take LSD, but don't give me the whole "you can't be a good Christian and support use of drugs" spiel, because I'm tired of it.
I don't support use of drugs. Heck, I don't even do drugs. But neither pot nor LSD have any serious side effects to the degree of alcohol, and yet alcohol is perfectly legal. Unless you've joined the local temperance league, strop trying to insinuate that I'm a bad person because I listen to ideas proposed.

So you want everySo, why not legalize all the other things that cause people to get arrested and go to jail? Seems like we are claiming that the problem is jail as opposed to what is being done to our fellow citizens who's brains and souls are taken over by the drugs.

If we have to pay for the revolving door of expensive addiction treatment, which has a very low success rate, then it does effect us. The truth is people don't live as islands, our self destruction effects society. We as adults should be able to put whatever substance in your body that you like as long as you do not cause harm or loss to other's in any tangible way.
If I want to eat a pile of pebbles then why should another free, independent adult tell me no? I could smoke 300 cigs a day until my lungs give out or buy enough alcohol to poison myself and nobody has the legal power to stop me. But I can't even legally smoke a joint in the privacy of my own home.
Why?
I favour decriminalisation of drugs, and the treating of addiction as a medical issue not a criminal one. Keeping drugs illegal only makes empowers dealers not weaken them. If I could grow my own plant for personal use then I would have no need to visit a dealer to buy it. They would all be out of their jobs, because its remarkably easy to do. Makes a nice edition to anyones garden

Some drugs aren't chemically addictive you know?
Also, I doubt people would want to ban junk food because it can cause health issues. Car accidents also kill alot of people. Should cars be banned?
(Drug taxes could also go towards healthcare).
