  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok, I want to transfer to this new school, but the form they sent me said that I need to send in my SATs, I didn't take them in high school becayse I currently attend a community college. So I may need to retake them, but I know I'll fail because of math.
shoulld I just give up, and not continue my degree? because i probably cant go anywhere else.

hmm...Did they say that it's a must? Are there any other options to replace it? I'm not familiar with how different uni work, but mine didn't require SATs for transfer students. Although for mine, I did need to complete a specific list of classes (for UC system).

I personally think it's good to go through with it. I know it's tough and fearful, but it may be well worth it at the end. Perhaps you can find some SAT classes? If it's something you want to do, I see no problem with putting plans off just a bit. You're still young. :p
When I was thinking of transferring, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to make a certain school...so wanted to give up and go for whatever was easy. I'm glad I didn't...even though the road was tough.

Are you really interested in this new school?

Well, your options are that you could either

a) continue to pessimistically think that you're going to get a horrible score on the math SATs no matter how much you study, or

b) optimistically put in a whole lot of time and effort into studying and convince yourself that it's worth all of that time and effort, since you'll end up with a good score as a result.

Which sounds like a better choice to you?

At most colleges I've looked at they waive the SAT requirement if you have at least 24 units from your community college. Maybe you should contact the admissions person for the college you want to go to and ask them to make sure. Or look up whatever transfer requirements they have.
I don't know.. I'm transferring to a university next fall from community college and I don't have to have the SAT because I have enough units.

I am in the same boat as you. I don't think anybody can decide for you. Some of the best colleges require transfers to take the SAT's while others do not. I am currently trying to decide a college to go to and 3 of my choices involves the SAT's. I could erase though choices and just choose the colleges that don't require anything.

The point is that its good to worry because it brings your stress levels up to study hard for the exam. Also, don't worry about your math score because as long as you believe in yourself and believe that God is in control, you will do great!
