I am a Pentecostal church goer myself and have a verse and story you may like if you're wondering whether or not to go.

This was a couple of years ago, I hadn't really been going to church much, felt tired and sort of down, and I woke up one Sunday asking myself that question, "Should I go to church today?" Well on my iPad I have an app like many others out there that give you a daily verse. So I told myself that I would see if God would speak to me through that verse or not and depending on what it said I would decide whether or not to go.

Well I opened the app and this was the verse it displayed that day: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. -Matthew 11:28

That verse alone perfectly described how I was feeling and as a result I couldn't really say no to going that day. So I went to church. I felt good when I entered the church and felt like there was definitely an undeniable presence there amongst the congregation.

Later as with many Pentecostal services someone had spoken in tongues. Our pastor stopped the singing and called out to the crowd for whoever felt God intended to translate through them. When someone finally did translate in English the first thing they spoke was that verse. I knew then that God truly did mean for me to make it that day and I had no regret in going.

The presence of God is truly a wonderful experience and even in my darkest days that church lifted me up and renewed a light inside of me, a light that I can only associate with the Holy Spirit.

God bless you and I hope he prospers you in his Holy Spirit.

I hear ya. My current Lutheran church is very prophetic. Many times the topic of our conversation on our way to church comes up in the sermon. God is good:)

I am a Christian and go to a Pentecostal Church.
I have begun to examine my soul, the Bible and the internet more.
I have begun to read, watch videos and I am scared for my soul.

You are a member of the body of Christ if you have the new birth. That makes you part of the Church whether you attend an organized gathering or not. The English word, "church" is from Late Greek kūriakon (dōma), the Lord's (house). You are the house of God in that God dwells in you. He does not dwell in brick and mortar structures used for gathering together.

The video you posted is disturbing. It is focused on sin, not the grace that we abide in. There is a natural tendency by organized gatherings with paid staff to lean on the law. The law magnifies sin, which creates a sin consciousness. But we are not to dwell on sin, but on the good and virtuous things in life.

Personally I no longer participate in organized gatherings with the exception of meeting with my friends in my home. Since we schedule meeting together you could call that organized, but we try to let the Holy Spirit determine how our fellowship plays out. Other than that I walk my walk with Christ in the world so I can be used by God in whatever way the day brings.

Technically speaking you don't necessarily have to go to church. All you really have to do is read the bible, respect the word and techings of god, and follow the correct way to live. People only go to church so they can come together as a community and endorse the word of god and spread it among each other. But it is good to go so you can learn with others inside your community and maybe teach each other and change others opinions and views.
