Should I feel lazy or missing out when using my phone as a Bible?

It's easier to see, many functions that aren't in a physical Bible, easier to navigate, just a lot better. But, I can't help but feel like some would judge me for it. Or that there's something I'd miss not reading a physical Bible, a expierence I guess.

What are your thoughts? Bible or eBible?

I would say it’s the content, not the format that matters.

I am old, so I prefer physical books over e-books at home, but e-books are convenient when I am out somewhere so I don’t have to carry a lot of extra weight. So I do use both.

There is a lot of convenience to the use of the eBible such as the posts above me. So for those reasons I use them. But I like handling the book version. I like hearing the pages turn and the weight of the book in my hands or on my lap. I like looking at the maps and reading the references and commentary in my study Bible. I think preference is individualized. Some like it hot. Some like it cold. Some like it in the pot nine days old.

I do over 99% of my reading and study electronically, but it's on a big screen not a phone. The electronic bible I use has multiple windows, for any number of bibles, commentaries, dictionaries, reading plans and books. It has a search function. It has a note-taking ability. I can copy and paste from it. Etc. The one thing I like about books is the visual context they give. You can get a feel for the verse in the context of the chapter and more. But at least on the large screen, the computer Bible comes pretty close to that as well.

Lets, face it, in church, it is hard to tell whether or not someone is texting, reading a bible passage or playing doodoo jump when they have a phone in their hands during service.

It is possible that this can send a negative message to children who watch adults on their phones in service.....for they too know not what is on the screen.....therefore they will desire to have the phone as well in service and have on their screen that which they desire to have on it.

For these reason, it may be unwise to use devices in the church.....and you will be judged by those who judge.

However, I do think it easier and better to use devices for study, for the reasons you mentions.....I use them exclusively outside the church.....but the physical inside, for the reasons I mentioned.

It’s your generation. And frankly thanks to electronic books we save a lot of trees.

You are not lazy. You might want to spend a few bucks on an actual study Bible App. The John MacArthur NASB study Bible app is really good and easy to use.

I’d still have a paper Bible around for Bible study with others and at church. Find out what Bible is in the pews and go with that one.

The fact that you had a copy of the written word of God, and that you can personally read and study it in your private time, is what matters the most. We have evolved with how we transmit this information, and there was a time that you only heard Scripture read in services.

I personally enjoy reading in out of a physical copy for a number of reasons, but I often use my phone or tablet for quick usage.

Sir, if you are concerned about others in your church judging you for using your phone - and probably are thinking about sin, hell, satan or whatever in relation to what you are doing.. then stop going to that church because it is filled with silly and probably bad-self absorbed people.
