  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Should Christians support Communism?

Voluntarily giving is a wonderful thing we do not do enough of. Jesus Praises Zacheus for giving half his possessions away. That being said I think there is a huge difference of voluntarily giving and being forced to Give. Go loves a cheerful giver, and if you give out of obligation, not joy or need I don't believe God will bless it, he might use it, but I don't think he will bless it. Communism enforced by the government has proven to fail economically, epically fail, every time. I think it is a foolish thing for any government or church to require people to give, but we should be encouraging people to give voluntarily as much as possible

Should Christians support Communism?
Is that something a Christian should support,or stand against?

No. A christian should not support communism. People make the mistake of comparing the early church which shared their possessions as communal. They offered up their possessions to help those in need of their own free will. Communism is virulently anti-Christian. Look at the example of the old Soviet Union, modern China and North Korea.

While I agree christians should not support communism, I donlt think you can say communistm is virulently anti-Christian. Certainly in modern times it has been, but I think that is because those societies were anti-christian, not that there is an actual connection between the two. The puritians tried to revive it briefly in the new world, didn't last long, and they were anything but anti-christian

when you are talking about communism you are always going to be talking about big government which I certainly oppose, and anytime you have big government tyranny happens. Communism can be antichristian, but it doesn't mean it has to be

So,not ALL forms of communism are anti christian?

Don't they follow the same ideals, the same aims?

It's not that the people are necessarily anti-Christian, but that the government cannot accept the competition to the absolute authority of the state.

Romans 13 seems clear we are to support the government so long as they aren't forcing us to do something against our religion. Even if they are doing evil things, Rome certainly was in those days and Christ or Paul didn't say we should rebel against them, if anything that we should be good citizens...

Our system and form of government however is quite unique. The United States was formed to have the "law above king" not "king above the law" as it had been in almost every system ever before. As americans we are given the responsibility to make sure our leaders uphold the law, the constitution and the bill of rights that they pledge to uphold... and I don't mean uphold it when they feel like it, I mean to the best of their ability uphold it. I think many of them need a course in Founding Fathers 101.

I will end my rant now, but hopefully I have conveyed the point that we should follow and honor our governments so long as they are not forcing us personally to do something against our faith, and I have to add because our own foundation writings require that we the people need to keep our leaders accountable

Government decisions, for example, introduction of new taxes, war, tough love policies etc etc
I mean the government can be corrupt can't they?

Ofcourse they can, was there ever one in history that didnt have any such corruption? Look at the hebrew women told to kill the children, they disobeyed the kings order. And the same thing in Jesus day, and were warned to flee when he ordered the killing of the children there.

As long as we are free to say, given the law of our land supports freedom of speech and imput of its citizens, why not? Even though our citizenship is really in heaven, while we live heer and are offered to have a voice in certain matters I dont see how that is wrong to do. I personally dont vote myself but many do. The president here should go through congress for any such war, but it seems he goes over their heads, so I can sorta see how thats corrupted right there. But we know the weapons of our warfare are not the same of those who are in the wolrd and of it, but Jesus spake of wars and rumors of wars and how these things must be too right?

I mean there is one higher then they, nothing is really out of his power that way, its not like any king is going to take him by surprise. Might take us by surprise, but really, if something like killing children were issued there would be no compliance by christians to do any such thing.

We all give an account for our doings kings of the earth too, dont you think?

Yeah.

To support the government would be to support corruption, wouldn't it?

You have probably heard the Joke...

How can you tell when a politician is lying
His lips are moving

How do we know a government is corrupt or not or if they are lying to us or not?

Well if we had no other king but Ceasar we would surely despair huh^_^ but thankfully we do know there is no power or dominion that reigns without the LORD's knowledge, and definately not one He isnt capable of throwing down.

Voting for the better liar is hard, I get what you are saying, and whats worse is you might just end up with the BETTER LIAR given the "performance"

I know many people are getting smarter now, when it comes to examining past records, finding out thier past voting records and leanings (the internet can be a gift that way) news travels fast, but really... we arent ever assured, the only thing I find assuring is they have one higher then themselves... and thats of great assurance to me.

Lions dens, furnaces and all the rest of it.

I think you are supposed to shine in the midst of what is perverse and yet still keep yourself unspotted by the same. Black backdrops sure make light all the brigher Im guessing, sounds about right

So,do we ignore the government?

They are in control,aren't they?

Of What we do?

If the government is to corrupt,is it right to stand against it?

I mean we follow God or man?

Who should tell us what to do?

Matthew 6:24:No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

They would ask him those type of questions, remember how they sought to trap Jesus with government type questions? Asking him, "Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar? And he perceived their hypocricy in this and asked them for a penny and says whose image is on it? They said Ceasar, and he said give unto Caesar what is Caesars and to God what is Gods. So you are not seving money but giving Caesar what is his.

Jesus pretty much ignored the government, till the time come he was killed. What did his disciple do? Did they protest outside of Pilates house? Most of the Jews were but to the condemnation of Christ, asserting they had no king but Caesar, and in fact used political against Pilate to kill him or you are no freind of Caesars correct?

See how the people USED paying taxes to trap Jesus in his answers in order to have something to use against him? And see how the Jews used their protesting to Pilate, saying ye are no freind of Caesar in order to manipulate his descision to their unjust cause to kill him?

Its all very manipulative and revealing, which is why I often refrain from governmental discussions, because it starts off very simply, a "question"... Is t right"?? and then just grows and worse worse ^_^
