  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Spanky was such a natural. One of his best lines came from the above film: "I don't think I'll taste so good; Mom says I'm spoiled."

I only regret not seeing this thread sooner. Short subjects are way underrated. :)
Great line by Spanky. I wonder how much of the Little Rascals was scripted, and how much was just putting them in a situation and letting them go? I can't think of anybody who didn't/doesn't like the Little Rascals.

Not many people will remember humorist Robert Benchley, but he had some very funny short subjects. And then there's W. C. Fields, the Three Stooges, et al. I also remember Travelogues (narrated by James A. FitzPatrick) and Passing Parade. Thankfully, TCM has saved many of these and plays them between movies.

Fortunately, I was able to record some of the Little Rascals when they had them on AMC, and I honestly can't say how many times I have watched them. I don't know; there's just something about them (and Laurel & Hardy and some of the other Roach players). They sure had talent in their day.

As far as the Stooges go, to be honest, they are not my favorite (even though I have a few of their shorts on tape). I am, however, intrigued by one particular routine they did, and that was their sing-songy "hello... hello... hello", and how they built up on the harmony. Actually, that was quite pleasant to listen to, and if they had any music albums, it would have been a nice novelty to have.

Anyway, good idea for a thread. :)
