Has anyone met and prayerfully married their spouse within a short period of time? What was your experience? If the courtship period is short, what are the most important things to look for? Is it a negative to have a shorter courtship, or, if both partners are prayerfully convinced of God's will for the marriage is that the most important thing? What is most important overall?

I didn't get married until I was 43. By then I had known my wife for two years. Those of us with backgrounds of abuse tend to be more cautious. It has been said that living alone is preferable to living with a mistake.

Younger people often make life decisions for superficial reasons such as income, attractiveness, popularity, etc.

Older people often have learned that qualities of kindness, compassion, patience, humor, and love of the Lord have greater value.

Take the time to get to truly know someone.
