  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

:help: I cannot find plain t-shirts for my kids. I don't want your standard boxy t-shirts for my girls. They need a more fitted shirt to go under their dresses until it gets warmer outside. I can't find plain ones.:ebil: Everything has some kind of gemmy on them or saying or image and they are not hidden by the dresses. But then they have a number of cute skirts to wear as well and I'd like some plain shirts that could go with those skirts. Basically I wan the ability to mix and max my kid's clothes and t-shirts with stuff on them don't give me that.

:help:Any ideas were I can find these? I also want plain ones for my son but specifically a few plain black t-shirts in a size 4. Why can't I find them?! He wants to be like daddy and daddy wears black Ts about every other day. Even if the black ones have stuff on it that's fine but I can't find them in his size without some sort of crass thing on the front. He's growing out of his Johnny Cash shirts so our little Pirate is sad.:swoon:

We have similar issues, finding decent clothing for our 7yo daughter . . . we've even taken to buying her shorts from the boys' department just to get them long enough :(

Have you considered looking online for some of the "modesty" clothing sites? You may have to pay a bit more, but you may also find what you're looking for, esp. for under your girl's dresses :) Some of these sites are designed to give options for "under shirts" to make today's fashions more modest.

Thanks. Old Navy and Gap don't have my daughter's size in stock in the colors she wants. And, in the stores I can't even find the plain shirts. Maybe I just need to be patient.

Any idea on boys t-shirts, specifically black? Old Navy only ever has black ts for little boys on halloween. The rest of the year everything is grey, red, navy, standard colors.

Thanks for this. Last summer I had a devil of a time finding some for my 5yo! I looked in every store in our area and all I could find was gimmicky tees, too. I just wanted plain, old solid colors; and you'd think that's be easy! :swoon: Finally Old Navy came out with some and I bought a bunch, but I haven't start looking this year. I hope I don't have the same problem again!

crazy8.com (part of gymboree but less expensive) has some t-shirts for boys although i didn't see black. There are some plain girl tshirts but with the 'puff' sleeves. :D
Thanks. That introduced me to a new place to look. Puff sleeves are fine and actually look very cute under their dresses.

Robinsegg - Thank you. What a collection of places to look!

I have similar problems this year finding clothes for my daughter. It's so hard to find cute girls clothes at the moment, that are still little girly, not teenish (she's only 2, but she has gone up to size 3, she is 3 in June) and it's so unbelievable, there were some clothes that I thought looked cute on the rack, but then when I held them up next to her, they would have made her look like a rock star wannabe. Not really what I'm after. Also I can't find a nice Winter jacket for her, I want a nice waterproof "parka" jacket, not a suede thing with fluffy feather things hanging out of the neck and wrists. Sure it might look cute, but not on a little girl, who gets a bit grotty sometimes. Looks like she'll have to wear big brothers old jacket again this Winter.

I understand the jacket frustration. It seems like so many of the clothing companies forgot that kids PLAY! Come one what kid can resist playing in the snow? We had the same struggle finding boots for our kids this winter that weren't all heels and slick on the bottom or would get ruined if they got wet.

I am a mum of boys, so I don't share your same concerns! We buy lots of Thomas the Tank clothes (tshirts, hoodies, jeans) and Bonds clothes. Target has some good basics too. Will layering hoodies over long sleeved tshirts do, or do you need an actual coat? (not something we get a lot of wear out of on this side of the country!)

Also keep and eye on www.gymboree.com They have some great gear, but postage is expensive to Australia, so its worth stocking up a bit in sales (I buy up a season ahead). Let me know if you need help with comparative sizing etc.

Sears carries LandsEnd for kiddo's :)

Hey! Great to know! I'm going to check that out because I really noticed a decrease in quality with this last round of t-shirts I bought at Old Navy. They started getting holes in them! I haven't had that happen before!
