I am in the middle of this challenge and would like to extend it into next month. I have some rules for this ban in which I can not buy anything extra for myself yet gifts for others is okay.
Have you ever done a shopping ban and for how long?

I think this a a great idea.

In college I learned, the hard way, on keeping a budget and not overspending. Once in the workforce with a steady income I found such discipline to be helpful.

I have done such self-imposed shopping bans for many months at a time and to keep what I am not spending in savings, in case of emergencies such as unforeseen vehicle or home repair, emergency travel, or just to help a friend.

A Christian I know sometimes will fast (Lent or for other occasions) and what she does is put aside the money she would have spent on the meals she fasts on and then donates it to charity (a food bank, shelter, or other Christian charity).
