Shell, captain of the hovership Kerberos. (GM NPC Character)

Age: Around 28
Race: Caucasian Freemind (has Neural computer and ports)
Areas of Specialty – Navigation, command, repair.
Matrix Training – Kung Fu, Guns, Drive, Acrobatics.
Matrix Belief: 40%
Appearance: Shell is slender and pale. Her black hair is cut tight, allowing for easy access to her cranial N-Port. In the real world, she wears a gray pullover shirt and dark green cargo pants. She is seldom out of her sandals. In the Matrix, Shell’s realized self image looks cleaner, more toned and has a perfectly porcelain complexion. She usually dresses in a black, contemporary leather jacket and pants with snakeskin boots but occasionally wears a white tanktop tee, black cargo pants with the lower legs held close to the body by wrapped black leggings. Tabi style shoes compete the outfit.

Personality: Shell takes on assignments without question, but her love for her crew sometimes causes her to interpret her orders in unique ways. She is not a talker, but when she does speak, those in her confidence find her both reassuring and guiding. Due to events of late, she hasn’t formed proper bonds with some of her new crew, she seems hesitant to make friends with them at this time, and keeps things strictly by the book.

Background

Liberated from the Matrix by Niobe and the crew of the Logos, Shell has spent the last 4 years of her life advancing through the ranks in Zion. She seemed to excel at piloting as well as mentoring new freeminds. The Kerberos is her first command and she has proven successful until recent events caused her to lose two valuable crew.

Shell commands her ship with authority, yet sees the protection of her crew a greater importance. Her ship is small; it can be crewed by as little as two (an operator/gunner and herself acting as pilot). The Kerberos has 6 jump chairs available for use by runners.

The ship has an EMP pulse generator, like all hoverships, it also has a turret armed with twin gatling cannons for just such emergencies. It is due to be outfitted for missiles but Shell hasn’t found the time to dry-dock the ship for such a fitting. Her ship is considered a reconnaissance/patrol ship, although it has been used to liberate freeminds when larger, more defended ships were not immediately available. Entering ‘the farm’ is risky business for any ship, let alone one half the size of the standard Liberty class H-Ship. Do to it’s size, all systems on the ship are smaller – including it’s broadcast range. This makes for risky missions within the Matrix. The operator and any crew not jacked in must be ever vigilant for Sentinel activity. Small size has its bonuses as well. The Kerberos can fit into places that most other H-Ships can’t.

Recently, Shell suffered the loss of two of her best runners Kilter and Doris, to agents while on a mission. She doesn’t talk about it openly, the two were ambushed, leading her to feel that someone set them up. Kilter and Shell were somewhat romantically inclined although such relationships are frowned upon by Zion command. On board ship, their relationship was strictly business.. She has recently accepted some new recruits to fill out the ranks and the ship is currently running at max capacity. She has been given orders from Zion and is ready to test her new crew’s abilities.
