  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Best movie of '94, and deserved the best picture Oscar from that year more than Forrest Gump. My favorite scene is when Tim Robbins' character plays the aria from Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" over the intercom, for all the prisoners to hear. Brilliant.

yes, excellent scene! the look on his face - knowing the impact of what he was doing was great - it was interesting, that was the first time I enjoyed that style of music, normally it makes me cringe, but for some reason - there was something awesome about it

It's right up there in my top five too! Now I have to revise my top five list...
There are so many great scenes! I guess when they're tarring the roof is the turning point of the movie where Andy makes a name for himself and then things start getting better for him. Morgan Freeman rules!

THIS IS MY FAVOURITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY GREEN MILE! (same director - same author for the original story). i bought the original DVD and then i had to buy the 10th anniversary box-set as i loved it so much!!

i love the continuing theme of hope throughout the whole movie.

my favourite scene - without spoiling anything - is the song being played and everyone stops what they're doing to listen!
