If my people which are called my my name shall humble themselves and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, and seek my face..........

That is the verse. I hear it many times. But something I noticed is worrying me. This is normaly the verse I see quoted on "christian" stations when they speak of our need for God and our need for healing in our land. But the thing is they always end it with "humble themselves and pray". It seems everyone is leaving off the important part, turning from our wicked ways.

We always hear of "national day of prayer", and we hear people say "pray God will forgive our nation". We hear alot about prayer. But the cry to america is not to pray. It is to turn from our wicked ways! It is the same in the church.

What we should have is a day of repentance. A day ALL abortion is banned and declaired murder. A day we burn the magazines on the top shelves covered up for so the kids don't see things adults shouldn't even see. A day to bring justice back to the courts. Prayer alone will not get it with God. He said repent.

I understand exactly what you're saying. It's frustrating when you see people who aren't putting much effort into walking the Christian life. And it's painful.

I take comfort in the thought that there's as much rejoicing in heaven for one soul that turns to God, as there is if a million do. (there's some scripture on this but I don't know it off hand, if anybody does feel free to quote it please?)

Isaiah 58 (selected) Declare to my people their rebellion and to the house of Jacob their sins. For day after day they seek me out; the SEEM eager to Know my ways, AS IF they were a nation that does what is right and has not FORSAKEN THE COMMANDS OF ITS GOD. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high. Is not THIS the kind of fasting I have chosen: TO LOOSE THE CHAINS OF INJUSTICE AND UNTIE THE CORDS OF THE YOKE, TO SET THE OPPRESSED FREE AND BREAK EVERY YOKE, IS IT NOT TO SHARE YOUR FOOD WITH THE HUNGRY AND TO PROVIDE THE POOR WANDERER WITH SHELTER WHEN YOU SEE THE NAKED, TO CLOTHE HIM, AND NOT TO TURN AWAY FROM YOUR OWN FLESH... If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the HUNGRY and satisfy the NEEDS OF THE OPPRESSED, then you will find your light will rise in the darkness ............

Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

 Blessings to all. You are correct looksgood IMHO. We can pray and pray and pray til we are blue in the face, but thats not enough. If I want my prayers to be heard and answered, I make sure to repent of any and every single thing the holy spirit puts upon me to repent of. My lil two cents :)

wow...thats it.
as my pastor always says
"the Holyspirit requires holy living".

this really reminds me of how God spoke to joshua and told him that he would never be defeated by anyone and that he would have great success in all that he did, one on condition...
that he meditate in the book of the law day and night and see that he took not one step to the right or to the left of it.
many people refuse to beleive this kind of condition is placed on the new covenant beleivers but i dont quarrel over it anymore.
but the truth is, sin will always disqualify you from walking in the power and the blessing of God. thats why paul said to throw off every yoke and sin THAT DOES SO EASILY BESET YOU...
sin will trip you in your race.
as it is clearly shown in the verse you posted as the subject for this
thread.

LOL, iktca, you just asked a BIG question. I am thinking we are past the point of no return (as a nation). BUT, I could very well be wrong. God has been known to turn immpossable situations around and for all we know this could be one of them.

I can only tell you what God has said. Judgment starts at the house of God. He did say if "MY" people turned from their wicked ways after all. I see openly gay pastors, fornication, lies, theft, strife, hate, pride, and abominations that at one time as the bible said "are not even named among the gentiles."

Those we put over us tingle our ears, and pass off these transgretions such as homosexuality as "Love". Theft and lies come in the form of scams. I seen churches send people that hate God letters saying "Send us a love offering and God will send you $!" And tell the people God TOLD them to send the letter to that person. And they call them brother or sister in christ!

Not all that talks the talk walks the walk as I am sure you know. But there is still a remanent. A small almost unknown group who may not know it all but they have it real. Given the profetic time I think the days are so dark there will be very little change in the country itself. But I suggest this one thing.......

Those who have it must make final preperations. It is near time for judgment. I will use myself as an example. I know a few things, and I got it real (see my testamony in another post). Yet I have been through times I went after the world anyway. It was wrong and I knew it. God withheld His self from me. He gave me small amounts of Him but not everything because of my sins. I had things in my home I did not use, yet I knew they were there. After time I repented not only of doing those things but that after I stoped that I kept them around just in case. I destroied them.

It is time for us to burn the bridges behind us. Time to repent. If there is nothing to repent over then it is time to pray and seek God. Grow in Him. LEARN what is right and wrong. And act like we ought to. Get back to TRUE doctorin. Test everything. A person can take 1 or 2 scriptures and make them say whatever they want. But we need to KNOW the word.

Comunicate with those who DO know the word. Learn from the elders. All these things will help us for ourselves. But for our country......preach the gospel to everyone.

Use wisdom. For those who already made their minds up to reject God use inderect witnessing. In other words talk with someone else while they are around so they can over hear. If they attack you anyway just treat them well. Don't yell back, just tell them you have seen what you speak of.

We are all called to preach the gospel. So no use saying "I dont know what my calling is". You may not be able to preach behind a pulpit, but you can post in a forum. If nothing else you can encourage those who know what to do. If we just did what God said to do things would be better.

The actions I suggest is: repentance (throw out the playboys, turn off the tv with sin all over it, and get rid of ALL things that make it easy to go after the world), humble ourselves (acknowledge we would be in the same place as the world if God hadn't found us. This causes simpathy that works by love. It is far better than looking at the world and telling it to change cause it's the right thing to do.), pray (seek God at all times. You can go to work and do what you must, but remember who you are coming home to.), "Learn of me" as He said (read the bible and know what it said), and finaly do as it said (in some way form or shape do what you can for God. Post on the net, put a bumper sticker on your car, wright a letter to a pen pal, do something).

We can't save the world, but we can save some of the people in it.

LooksGood,
Where did you learn all these? From a man or from the Lord Himself? My apology if I sound like questioning. But I would like to hear more from you.
Where did I learn of all what? The things going on in churches? Watch the news. Or just visit diffrent ones. I seen the stuff go on.

Or are you talking bout the actions I suggested? They came from the scriptures. In fact they came from the same one I spoke of in the first opening of this topic. God said it. And I can tell you from expiriance that He don't lie.

Or was it something else you were wanting to know? Don't worry bout the apology, I didn't even understand the question lol.

LOL, thats why I said:

My reasoning for the thought that we are past the point is that time is runing out. These are the last days and it was indeed said there would be a falling away. None of us like this, but at some time we have to acknowledge there is a falling away. Whats worse is that for most there will be no turning back. "They did not repent..." I hear a lot about a last day GREAT revival. It is true many will be saved, but FEW will find the way. But like I said, for now, there may still be time left. God can turn it around after all.
