Sexual Sin

Sexual sins are nasty beasts, aren't they? They're so hard to shake off and there's so many temptations out there these days.

I've been battling with my sexual sins for almost six or seven years now. I'm exhausted and want nothing more than for it to be over. God is telling me I have to do the work though. He says trust, but put in the work. I don't know what work I need to do. That probably sounds foolish and I'm sure there's an easy answer, but I'm a loss right now. You know how it is, when you've been in a situation for so long, it's difficult to see the answers right in front of you.

Please pray for clarity and for healing. And pray that God will reveal to me what it is I need to do or that he sends someone my way that can minister to me through this time. Because I want to be free. I will no longer serve the master of sin. I want to serve Christ alone.

Friend, You yourself just said that you choose Christ alone. Realize that He alone is all you need.
When you release yourself to His saving power and accept that your spiritually dead to sin, Only then will you begin to heal.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: For you are not under the law, but grace.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggle. I am very familiar with the topic and was discussing this with the Holy Spirit recently and you're correct; it's hard to fight but not impossible.

In most cases you're dealing with a many layered problem. Sexual unions and their soul ties. Sexual practices that may have attracted certain spirits. And sexual strongholds.

What many never address is the root. This is the catalyst for everything that followed. It is the gateway for entry that started it all. Oftentimes it has nothing to do with sex. But their reaction to the event could be sexual. Or they may have been exposed through the actions of others.

As a rule, it's good to pray against the spirits of lust and perversion. But the smoking gun in all of this is usually rejection. He's often the strong man behind the strongholds many have. And most would never guess that's the case.

Knowing the why behind the behavior is really important. For example, events may occur when an individual is lonely, sad, or under stress. In this case you're dealing with a spirit of loneliness, sadness or anxiety which triggers the other.

That's why I said it's many layered. You can have triggers in music, movies, people, etc. It's a well woven spider web that reinforces its hold. I'd start there because you'll have a foundation to work with. Renounce and rebuke those spirits and do the same with any connections you've had. I'd devote a day of fasting for this task. Write it down so you don't miss anything.

Continue to pray against rejection, lust and perversion and ask the Lord for insight on any others. You should ask who the strongman is. He will be the last to go but when this is broken you'll know it and you'll know when you've driven them out. You'll begin to feel lighter as they leave.

Remember Paul's words when things get hard, "I buffet my body and make it my slave." You are God's bondservant. Affirm this every time an urge arises.

How I wish it were as easily done as it is said! But I trust God to get me to that point where I can finally put myself fulling in his saving power and then be free.

I know that there is probably some long hidden away reason that this all started but if we're being honest, I've been too afraid to dig it up for fear of actually having to deal with it. But you're right, the root must be dealt with or I'll just keep struggling through this. I'll be praying that God reveals to me the real issue at hand so I can deal with it.

Well sure, but marrying myself off isn't going to solve my issue with sex. It's only putting a bandaid on it. And if it were so easy to just get married, then surely I'd be married by now!

I have been praying on starting a monthly zoom or skype meeting for men who are struggling with porn and sexual sins. Would you be willing to participate?
This would be through a 12 step program called "breaking the chains" and is solely focused on Jesus Christ and biblical principles.

Haha, noone said it would be easy, it wasn't a command but a concession. In fact, Paul said it would bring its' own "troubles" in the flesh, but it would remove one from being in a near-constant state of tormenting temptation or from promiscuous fornication.

As a Catholic, we have confession. I assume you have some way of confessing sins as well. If it hadn't been for confession given to us by God through Jesus, I would still be deep in sin. It took almost weekly confession to Jesus in the confessional as well as daily prayer, to help free me. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but there are things I used to do without thinking, that now I would not think of doing. John 20:20-23.

I would love to participate but unfortunately it seems that's only geared towards men and I happen to be a woman but thank you for the offer!

The XXX Church has done a lot of work in this area. I discovered them years ago and was going to volunteer as a group leader. There are many online options and I like their tenure and work outside the Internet.

They have small groups for men and women.
