Hi all,

I have a sexual sin-related question. My question is this: if a married couple is cuddling and kissing, and the husband "loses" some pre-ejaculatory fluid (but does not [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] sperm), then has a sin been committed? Would it need to be confessed?

I apologize for the detail. I was just wondering.

Thanks,
Rosa

Well it's not like he can stuff it back in there and it is beyond his control that the stuff got out in the first place so I'd say no.

I think it's rare that this doesn't happen actually....usually there's some that just comes out just 'cause. Kind of like it's just checkin' out the situation for the other guys to see if the coast is clear.

No, since I think for it to be a sin it has to require intent. The scenario you've described makes me think he had no control over it.

Michelle

But what if it could be "controlled" by abstaining from affectionate activity? Would God really call a couple to abstain from hugging and kissing if they knew that this would likely happen?

There is no way for a married couple to abstain from affectionate activity. It's kinda required to make babies. ;)

This sounds to me like it's on the same lines of a nocturnal omission, but if you're really concerned about it you could ask a priest.

I somehow suspect that different priests would give different answers about this.

Let's hope not. This is called Biology 101. This sort of thing is extremely normal and is by no means any kind of a sin. This is how a man's body functions en route to sexual intercourse.

The sin in "wasting seed" is making use of the sexual faculty for self-centered purposes, not, I repeat not, in one sperm "working its way loose from the pack and falling on infertile ground" as if we are only given a certain amount and so "You better not 'waste' a single one or you're in trouble!" That's not what's being suggested at all.

I hope this makes sense and puts any fears to rest.

I like you. :) That response makes sense.

What about about an unmarried couple who, ahem, goes too far physically and has this happen? Do they have to confess to "wasting the seed" then. Again, I'm talking about pre-ejaculatory fluid, not [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse].

Man, is this ever humiliating. You guys must think I'm insane.

.

Every sperm is sacred,
Every sperm is great,
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.

Let the heathen spill theirs,
On the dusty ground,
God shall make them pay for
Each sperm that can't be found.

I'd actually be shocked if this didn't happen to an unmarried couple who even was just kissing. I mean I'm not a guy but this stuff is wicked normal. Weekly confession might be a good thing for both parties though who are dating since things can get iffy every so often and one can't get enough of that grace from the sacrament of reconciliation during these very trying times.:)

Again, by nature, biological processes, in and of themselves, are intrinsically amoral. There is no moral character to them. The moral character in a biological process lies in the choice to engage in certain actions to begin with that are not in keeping with God's proper design for man.

And so, in the aforementioned situation, confession would indeed be necessary, but the confession should run along the lines of, "I put myself into the occasion of sin with my boyfriend/girlfriend", rather than.... emmmm.... sorry, but..."We were making out and some stuff came out..(etc.)."

The biology is not the sin. Choosing to "take biology a little too far" in this case is.

;)

If it was something that was really bugging you, I'm (sincerely) glad I could help.

So then, what you're saying is that it's not necessary to state that "stuff came out". Correct?

I'm sorry if this question made anyone feel awkward. It's just my blasted scrupulosity acting up again. :sigh:
