I have some denim with a light avocado green, purple, khaki, and eggshell white hibiscus pattern.
I want to make an A-line skirt. However the only McCall's pattern that is specified for denim has gathers and the waste back has elastic and that is the problem. Elastic with denim doesn't often work. The cheap elastic sold in fabric stores does not last more than a few washings even in cold water with line drying.
Zippers are even more of a nightmare.
I am thinking of taking tuck-like pleats around the waist (front and back) and then having openings on both sides where the pockets are. This would avoid the use of elastic and zippers. I plan on adapting a McCall pattern and using hooks to close the sides.
Any comments?
