  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Ben, I am not a Missionary but I have wrestled with the idea of becoming one and if the opportunity presents itself, I would give it a shot. I would like to visit Japan because I feel they are not enough Christians over there, it would be great to even win a few converts no matter how little the number may be.

If you were a missionary - what country did you most enjoy serving in and why?

Greetings Ben,
My group has been most heavily involved in Europe esp. France and Germany, so I suppose I'm partial to that region. It's been a special type of mission since we've been helping to re-invigorate a Christian tradition that's been dormant, re-vitalize the churches and build new ones. And even to foster a whole new generation of believers spreading to other countries, by virtue of bringing the Gospel to refugees and immigrant groups, who in turn have bravely evangelized and built churches in their homes back in Syria, Iraq and North Africa, even with the risks there. It's been a very special type of ministry for us that's accomplished incredible things. Still on a personal level, I feel like my most special mission as a kid was in Turkey, thanks to a charity effort run by my church where we, much to our surprise, were also allowed to bring the Gospel. It was challenging and a bit risky to do a mission in a Muslim country like that, yet to our surprise we were treated warmly. Most Turks and Kurds are actually like secular, and they seem to retain some memory of their ancestral history as Greek, Armenian or other Christians, so we won more converts than we'd expected. Turkey feels in many ways like a Christian land just beneath the surface, and we were helping to bring that out again.
