Matthew 20:26-28 says, Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Wow! Think about it! The worlds thoughts regarding greatness and our Saviors thoughts are worlds apart. The world says, "Step on everyone to get the top."
Jesus says, "Kneel down and wash their feet."
Jesus is not asking us to do anything He did not do.[John 13:14] In fact, He is not
even asking us to do what He did gave His life as a ransom for many.
He is just asking us to live for Him. To offer ourselves as living sacrifices, right where we are, for His glory. To love because He first loved us. To be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as He forgave us. [Ephesians 4:32]
I have asked God for the privilege of doing great things for Him. Here is what He says, "Trust and do good, right where you are. Be willing to serve me wholeheartedly in the smallest of things. Humble yourself under my mighty hand and I will lift you up in due time."
I pray regularly to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all I can ask or imagine according to His power that is at work with in me. He responds, "I shall, but much of the doing will be your submitting to my continued work in your heart and mind, so that I can do greater things through you."
And you know what? The more He works in my heart and mind, washing feet is fine. Yet He promises more in time. I Peter 5:6 says, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time."
Trust and do good, by the power of Gods Spirit, right where you are. Serve Him in the little things and He will make you great for His glory!
Philippians 2:9-11) Lets serve Him with a smile!
